I haven't been inspired to buy anything. I only got Yeah Yeah Yeahs (which i thought was okay), and the Strokes (which i though wasn't very good).

I just can't get into anything else.

well what you should do is actually buy good records...liars, built to spill, belle and seb come to mind. 2006 is kicking my ass so far.

edit: and oh yeah, loose fur as well

I haven't bought that many yet this year either. I'm still looking forward to this summer and fall, though. Could be a pretty good year.

Some good ones I've bought:
Liars
Destroyer
Islands

Haven't bought B&S, but I'm enjoying it quite a lot.

Mono
Neko Case
Mogwai
Appleseed Cast
Cat Power

all good ones.

AMGL - maybe you've been too busy conducting ice experiments?

I haven't bought any albums except for the Tapes N Tapes cd I got for my brother at the show.

I'm at about that many as well:

Tortoise & Bonnie Prince Billy
Neko Case

Can't think of anything else.
Mind you I'm trying to ween myself off the record-store-clerk-cd-discount-addiction.

I've bought 6 which I think is probably less than previous years. I know of maybe one or two other things I want or am curious about, but I'm not really motivated to go out and pay full price for them.

I think I've been moving more and more away from buying new music. Older stuff seems much easier for me to gauge in terms of my own enjoyment. I find that newer stuff is always more of a gamble, and as I try to tighten my CD buying budget, that's what gets cut.

That was last year. And had i not conducted them i would not have believed the outcomes myself. They were entirely necessary.

I've bought six. Though I'm kinda thinking I shouldn't have bought the Strokes. I could have used that cash to pick up something interesting instead.

You might like these:

Liars - Drum's Not Dead
Sparse, abstract, and somewhat primitive, recalling no wave, Krautrock, and other stuff.

Wooden Wand and The Vanishing Voice - Gipsy Freedom
Sprawling hippie art-folk, but head and shoulders above most of that crowd. Mixes in elements of jazz (really nice sax on the opening track), and is their most accomplished work to date, IMO.

Man Man - Six Demon Bag
I've only listened to it once, but it's been on my "to buy" list ever since. Dude kinda sings like Tom Waits, and there's a general "carnivalesque" vibe. Just sounds like a nice collection of good songs.

Super Numeri - The Welcome Table
Funky, proggish, instrumental rock. The 20 min opening track is great, RIYL Millions Now Living-era Tortoise.

I've been pretty underwhelmed thus far as well. I just downloaded the new Neko Case and like that pretty well. The Margot and the Nuclear So & Sos is decent. I will say it's better than the way 2005 started, though.

Well most of that stuff is pretty polarizing. Definitely worth a listen, though, and if you want a hook-up of anything in particular, PM me.

Strokes
DBT
TI
Deadstring Bros (maybe 2005?)
New Springsteen

all of which are fucking awesome, so maybe you just like crap?

I can see the problem right off the bat from your second sentence.
