Is it Wil uh meht, or Wi lae meht?

(I mean, the valley.)

Prolly closest to how I say it, but don't say it like that to an Oreghinian, or she'll get upset.

Pointedly, though, while they refer to the river and valley as Wi-LAH-meht, individuals named Bill are not referred to as Wi-LEEM*.

*Appletonian Willem Dafoe excepted. Of course, even he is William on his birth certificate, there just happened to already be a William Dafore in the SAG.

easy to remember:

it's Willamette, damn it. Emphasis is on the "lam." So none of your poll choices are correct. Seafoam is right.

WilLAMette?

That really isn't as obvious as you're pretending it is.

i think she's saying it's easy to remember if you just rhyme it with "damn it" when you say it.

The second choice was my attempt at the Oreghinian (it's Oreghinian, damn it, if the name of the state is Oreghin; you can't go calling the location GHIN, then call the people from said locale GONIAN) pronunciation. I am sorry it looks flubbed.
