 Post subject: how does one figure out the DPI of an image?

in photoshop click
Image -> Image size

but i couldnt tell you how to do it outside of photoshop

most of the images on the internet or 72 dpi because
thats all you can see on a screen anyways

do you have photoshop? If you take it into photoshop and click on image size, you should have the option of seeing ppi and dpi.

If you right click on the image and go to the summary tab, it sometimes tells you. Click on the Advanced>> button.

so far no good.
It's an image I took of my daughter and then cropped it in an editing program, which greatly reduced the file size from 950kb to 67kb. My wifey-poo is entering her in some contest to get on the cover of a magazine, and it says the minimum dpi allowed is 72. I hope tha program didn't reduce it too much. It still looks good on my laptop screen.

seems like if you're sending the photovia e-mail that 72 is perfect. if you're going to print it an send it you'd want 300.
