...was April 15. It's odd, because my girlfriend and I were just talking about him when we were down the shore and the Stones' "Out of Time" came on the radio and we both looked at each other at the same time and said "Isn't it weird that I like the Ramones' version better?" I don't know, I feel like his death hit me a lot harder than almost anyone else's in music, so I just thought I'd point that out. I'm probably gonna write something about it for my big gay blog today. I'm trying to find that medley they played at the mtv movie awards god knows how long ago (whenever the lion king came out, I guess), but so far it's been spotty at best. Anyways, just thinking about it...

Very sad loss....I had gotten to meet him bout 8 months before he passed. Nice enough guy.

my worst loss though, known enough in this circle, was Shannon Hoon.

Holy shit...can't believe it's been 5 years.

Joey's passing was one of the first artist deaths that really hit me hard.

Pac is approaching ten years dead, Biggie just passed nine... Hell, JFK, Jr., and Diana will have hit nine years in a bit -- and no matter how loved they say Diana was, I bet most in England won't remark on it, nor even remember. So, pfft on that, Lady Spencer, and if you weren't dead, you'd be in jail, for abetting a felon (Mother Theresa)*.

I don't think its a half bad album but why would I want to listen to it when I could listen to an early ramones album instead. Although I'll give you that "Mr. Punchy" is pretty weak and I'm a bit uncomfortable listening to "I got knocked down".

I saw the ramones' last show. I didn't really believe them when they said they were hanging it up at the time, but Joey hadn't gone public with his health problems at that time. He did soon afterward. I was really glad I went.

I can't say I felt anything specific about Joey's death, except an 'oh that sucks'. After I watched End of the Century, I did feel kind of sad that they were all dead now except Tommy. That sort of made it a bit more real for me, especially everyone lauding Joey at the RnR Hall of Fame.
