  • English
  • French
  • about 6 words in Spanish
  • and IndieRockBoyMusician
  • also a little bit of Post-Modernist-Academic-Media-Studies... but I've tried to block that out.

edit: I've love to learn Spanish properly but I actually find it a ilttle confusing because parts of it are so similar to French... but just different enough to mess with my mind.

No queria cagar en tu leche, hijito... Pero ahora, no me importa que te mueras. No era insulto, sino redaccion. Seria lo que debe hacer alguien que habla mejor el idioma.

Ditto. I can read and speak some French, at least enough so that it helped me get around when I was in the Alps a few years back.

But understanding what the hell they're saying to me is impossible.

Oh yeah, and who doesn't love Ayah?

ja-ja-ja. Siempre es grasioso cuando gentes que hablan espanol como una lengua segunda usan las palabras "sucias". Es todo que sabemos hacer.

My favorite thing is translating U.S. idioms into spanish. Like:

Esta lloviendo gatos y perros.

o

Mi hueso grasioso.

o

Voy a cagar en tu espalda y entoces yo reire (perdoneme porque no lo uso los accentos)

o

Mis mejiliones son mas grande que tuyos.

English, German (Badisch), passable French, and I picked up some Hindi and imagine I could learn a good deal of it given some time.

Ahhhh, but if that were true, you'd have had a pen / paper for that chick's number, no?

Yeah. I realized that the last two were not idioms. But, I added them because I think they are funny.

I just think the mejiliones one is funny because it should be bosques or whatever. My old coworker is a mexican dude and I would say this stuff to him and he would shake his head and call me an idiot. It was good times.

Enough Spanish to not look like an idiot.

Latin in college. I can read it pretty well, but speaking is right out.

Taking Chinese now and it seems to be coming to me pretty well. Things just make sense. And I love the way it sounds.

In my 3rd semester of Japanese, going in as an absolute beginner

Did 2 yrs of French at school. With a little brushing up I could remember enough to get around as a tourist

REALLY want to learn Spanish, but a full program isn't offered at my uni, which is why I chose Japanese. Although, to spend significant time in Barcelona I would really need Catalan

Really jealous of the Japanese. I want to go grad school with Columbia University Teacher College's Tokyo Camps, but I've never taken any Japanese before. I have kind of a thing for languages though so I bet if I got into it intensively it wouldn't be too much of a problem. I love Japan.

The only major problem is the kanji. Even at this early stage, they're all starting to have common or similar bits, so it can be easy to confuse them. And I find that some of the ones we've had to learn when the textbook covers certain topics aren't used that often afterwards, so I tend to forget them.

If you're jealous of me though, you'll hate my brother - he's in his sixth year of it now

btw, how long have you been doing the French for? Once I finish uni I plan on starting it over again and maybe take some TAFE (kinda like community college) classes
