I'm sure Syosset High School is somewhere up there. I know Jericho and Cold Spring Harbor are like in the top 40 or something and those are the two neighboring school districts. Our high school was essentially the same as theirs.

CSH was no. 35! I went to Huntington. Too bad we weren't rich...

As some of you may remember, I am a school administrator. My last district had/has 5 of its 6 high schools in the top 500.

There is an absolute correlation to these rankings, and socio-economic status of the families of the kids and the amount of per-student funding. As our systems stand, money in the home and money in the district accounting office equals "student achievement." In some respects studies like these say "those who are rich are rich." And NCLB's impact has actually only exacerbated this.

That's what I've said a couple of times on this thread. They're all definitely schools in rich white suburbs. Places where people realize that high taxes are good because that means more money goes towards your kid's education.

#537 - George Washington High School, and the first school to appear on the list from Iowa, I might add.

I feel like e-stone went to Wootten (#51) or Rockville (#426).

I actually attended 2 schools on the list, 801 and 809. Though they're ranked close, I thought 801 was much harder and more cutthroat than 809.

My public high school went out of business. There was a hostile takeover by the neighboring town, Unfiortunately, they're a lot dumber than we were, and we're down to #834.

no way. as i was explaining to friends at lunch last week, my hs guidance counselor didn't even encourage us to go to college. i'm glad that my mom wanted me to attend lutheran school so badly. it's done wonders.

720.

See, this is wierd, 30 is Lincoln Park H.S., ahead of other more touted schools in IL, but according to the stats we got, Lincoln Park isn't even in the top ten in IL. 1 and 2 were CPS schools, Walter Payton College Prep, and Northside College Prep, 4 was Lane Tech (another CPS school), and the rest were northshore burbs...

I know the stats were based on Standardized Tests Scores and average GPA, so the criteria are different...
