is it possible to create multiple links in a gif or jpeg?

like, if i wanted each circle below to link to other pages within a site? you can do this with Acrobat for PDFs, but i haven't figured out a way to do this for an image on a webpage.

Image

and no, that's not my nifty gif image, just an illustrative example found on google.

my next question will be about tables. :)

you would have to use what's called an imagemap.

ahh, the things i don't learn on my own. sigh.

this is all basically a way of avoiding doing too much work with tables, which is kinda lame actually.

You can link a single image to another site...
I don't know how to do that map thing to link different coordinates of an image to different sites.

Imagemap is one way to do it.

You can also break it up into multiple images, and have each sub-image go to a different link.

i thought about doing that, but...one step at at time.

also, it looks like ImageReady has an image-mapping tool for plotting coordinates and links. more on this as i succeed...

this is correct, if you have access to Fireworks or Dreamweaver, 'tis very easy to do.
