I am afraid to go to the dentist, because I haven't been in so long.
I am afraid he is going to say something like "well, the easiest thing to do is going to be to rip them all out and put fake ones in."

I really should schedule an appointment, but I don't have my new insurance card yet.

I do have half a fake tooth as well.

I'm probably around the same era. It could be closer to '92, but I don't remember.

Most of my molars are crushed and ground down due to bruxism over the years . I'll probably be a fakey within a decade, at least back teeth.

S'Alright, though, I'll be a smokin' sexay gramp pa-pa.

When I was young and would go stay with my grandparents my grandmother would take out her teeth every night. I was fascinated by it. I hope it never happens to me.

Somewhat related... NEVER buy the EasySlide Pro floss. It's waxy and terrible. I'ts more expensive and a worse product. I hate when they do that.

My 6 front teeth are a bridge. I injured myself while working for my Dad's nursery and they initially capped them, then a few years later I developed soreness in my gums and they realized that the initial damage was worse than they thought - so they yanked 3 of them and then filed down the other 3 to form a base for the bridge - most people don't realize that they aren't real and they don't really feel any different to me. My only problem was 2 years ago when the bridge came out - that wasn't a lot of fun but they basically just glued it back in.

I went to the dentist yesterday and she did not indicate that I needed fake teeth.

My sister who is two years older than I am has fake teeth. When she had braces the adhesive they used stained her teeth permanently. A few years back she was having some serious toothaches besides the pain of from her wisdom teeth. Rather than repair the bad teeth and having her teeth bleached along with some other expensive process, they suggested she get dentures.
My back teeth are pretty bad, and I haven't been to the dentist since around 93-94. I should have went during Grad School when I got reduced dental cost through the University of Nebraska School of Dentistry, but I was too cheap and way too busy to take a day or two off for dental work.

Pretty much the last thing a dentist wants to do is yank 'em. They want to keep you in teeth so they can service them until you croak. You may wind up needing crowns or caps, but it's still better than dentures.

They have pretty amazing ways of keeping you toothful, they're just so damn expensive.

my mom has had periodontal problems for years and she's been begging her dentist to give her false teeth since she was in her early 30's. He won't okay it because he says that you should try to keep your natural teeth for as long as possible. So, maybe your dentist will be like my mom's and won't let you ditch your teeth.

I need root canals in my two front teeth but am terrified to go to the dentist. I don't like novocaine shots, so I'll just deal with the painful roots for now.

Dentists are right up there with clowns for me. Nightmares for days.

I guess I should add that I really don't have any apparent problems with my teeth. I have a few places where I can feel they are chipped, which I am guessing is from cavities, but other than that, no pain, swelling, or anything like that.

I'm just fearing for the worst because I haven't been in so long.

Maybe it's as simple as that car wax commercial where the guy puts some on half of the rust bucket in the junk yard and it looks like new.

you should be fine if you don't have pain or any apparent problems.

do you at least floss regularly? that's probably more important than brushing.

2 gold teeth...near the back though. They only occasionally peak out the corners with a big smile.

Gold ones are cheaper, more durable and way cooler than porcelin.

Just go already...it'll just get worse if you wait.

that's gross. do you know how much food gets trapped between your teeth? ugh.

i'm rethinking my soda drinking habits since watching mythbusters the other night. anything that can break down meat, clean the chrome of a car and make pennies shiny again should not be in my tummy.

How long has it been since you have gone to the dentist? If it has only been 6 or so years, you're probably in good shape and may just need a crown or two. That was what happened with me. I had a large gap between 1996 and 2001, where I did not see a dentist and I was spooked about what I needed done. I have a friend who is 33 and hasn't been since he was 16. He just recently visited the dentist to find out what needs work and surprisingly, he only needs a few fillings and crowns. Crowns and fillings are nothing. You should go to at least see what kind of work you need done.

My teeth seem to be just far enough apart that I can get food out with my tongue or fingernail as needed.

I also chew a lot of sugarfree gum to keep my breath smelling nice which I assume frees the food.

On a side note, I always seem to get popcorn stuck in my teeth. This usually happens with the third piece into a jumbo bucket. This causes me to floss.

My best friend has two fake front teeth from a boating accident when he was younger. One of the funnier things to happen in college was when he was hitting on this extremely hot chick in a bar. Things were going extremely well. When all of a sudden, the teeth came loose and flew out of his mouth while he was talking and landed on the floor ( a nasty bar floor) by her feet. It brings a giggle to my face just picturing him picking up his teeth and trying to keep his mouth closed as he scurried away. We had to pretty much call it a night.
