ah.

Well, here's the breakdown on that...

1. It's happenin'.
2. I start on the 22nd.
3. Phil made an offer to drive with me and my bike out there, but the Mrs. kinda wants to come too, which means a whoooole new cost bracket, because 3 people in a small truck for 1100 miles is not gonna work, methinks.

So I don't know yet, to be honest. The easiest way is for phil and I to drive out there (if he's still offering), because then I just split gas with him, and that's my only expense. Did I mention I'm fucking broke? But if she still really wants to come along for the moving trip, I haven't the foggiest how we'll get there. Hopefully I can convince her to wait a couple of weeks and come see me once I've moved in and we can afford a plane ticket.

Backup plan is just me, the bike, a backpack, $300 for gas and motels, and a sore ass.

That is almost as funny as Phil's Pitcher/Catcher comment yesterday in the Capn's ghey thread.

Bike's big enough to take me out there, not really two of us. Would fit in a truck bed, no sweat.

We ARE too poor for a u-haul. Shit, unless something happens, we're too poor for a sandwich. (I'm pulling electrical sidejobs, she's painting houses for some contractor right now). Plus those fuckers cost a TON. Look it up. I was shocked.

Once I get two or three paychecks under the belt, all's forgotten. It's getting there and working for 2 or 3 weeks without starving that I'm stumped over.

We can make it happen. If the girl is your size, we can make that happen too, you can take turns stretching out in the too small for me x-cab.

Problem solved.

Get your clothes in cardboard boxes, throw em in trash bags to waterproof, and we'll wedge them in around the bike.

It's called a credit card. get one. you can get one with zero interest introductory rate and pay it off with your first paycheck or 2.

I keep forgetting you didn't meet her.

But she's coming around to that conclusion, I think. Heavy-handed treatments go nowhere round here. For both of us. She has to realize exactly how big the price tag for what she wants is.

That's where you tap maple trees, right? In exchange, I'll tell you what's in grits, and de-mystify cheese curds... I know the culinary secrets of 2 different regions.

I can't wait either. I'm sure we NYers could afford to treat you to a meal or two.

It's going to be so much fun.
