I'm hoping they at least keep Libby around especially considering the fact they have set up that she was in Hurley's past and possibly tied in with the Others. If they just sweep this stuff under the rug, that's really lame.

Also, can anyone tell me the point of having this big back story explaining Ana Lucia's tie-in with Jack's dad if she's just going to die and Jack's never going to know about it? Is it just to tell us why she was in Australia?

Sawyer met Jack's father at that Sydney bar. That might be important. Also what might be important is why he actually needed protection. Might have something to do with Dharma.

But they explain Sawyer meeting Jack's dad and Sawyer said something to Jack about the meeting. It was a really good scene. Maybe it does have something to do with Dharma, though, and that's the tie-in. That would be cool.

Sawyer gets laid and his she-beast promptly gets shot. "Well, ain't this just GREAT."

So if Libby's laid up with a stomach wound, what are Hurley's nookie chances at this point?

Did ya guys notice that when Jack's dad opened the car door in front of the bar, he bumped it into Sawyer?

Yes, I figured they through that in for comic relief and to establish that this is the same bar he's at when he meets Sawyer. It'd be interesting to see if Jack's dad was wearing the same clothes he was in Sawyer's flashback.

What about Jack's dad yelling to that woman that he wants to see his daughter? I'm guessing Claire?

Interesting. Did we meet Claire's mom at any point? I don't remember.

I don't think so. When we saw Claire's backstory I thought it was mainly about her getting knocked up, the boyfriend issue and the psychic.

She didn't look that young to me. Plus it's television, the camera takes away 10 or 15 years doesn't it?

What was the deal with Shannon and Boone's parents? They didn't have a father in their life, I don't think.

Jack let their dad die to save his future wife during the episode where she's admitted to the hospital.

I like how they're making me reconsider just who the bad guys are. In reality, the Others haven't really killed any more of the beach crowd than vice versa. Plus we don't really know much about the motives of the others, except that their leader is a megalomaniac and they have a very clear sense of good and evil (which, if it means ana lucia dies, is probably pretty accurate).

From an ap article ran in the local paper:

Quote:
The apparent death of Ana Lucia was reinforced by comments from two of the show's executive producers to TVGuide.com. The decision to make the character a short-timer was reached early and was unrelated to Rodriguez's drunken-driving case in Hawaii, where the series is filmed, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse said.

"A lot of this is going to sound like spin, so all we can give you is our word that this is exactly what happened," Lindelof told TVGuide.com. When Rodriguez auditioned for the role she made it clear she was "sort of a nomadic spirit" and would commit to a limited run, he said.

Really? Kidnapping children and pregnant women, assaults and attempt murder generally constitute maladaptive behaviour in my book.

HE'S A BRILLIANT MAN. BUT NOT A VERY FORGIVING MAN.

henry gale wasn't lying when he said the others were going to come for locke because he's "good."

henry goes away, will be blamed for the shots/killing(s). ill bet libby knows michael's been "converted" or is part of the others' "scheme" now and i bet michael feels really bad for shooting her for more than one reason. why? BECAUSE LIBBY IS AN OTHER. and she crazy too.

will the others, or at least henry, have to fear the wrath of hurley? well, hurley in his grieving husband role will take comfort with sayid, who is also batshit crazy.

jack's gonna be omg michael are you ok let me tend your shoulder because you're honest and good. there's gonna be some people who aren't going to believe michael in the next episode. thus, there's gonna be Team Jack and Team Locke/Hurley/whoever next episode.

awesome awesome episode, i'm glad ana is dead, it really moves things forward in the good/bad sense.

ana: [goodwin] was going to kill me.
henry gale: was he?

i love the hell out of that dude. i hope he's in other episodes. great passive, great aggressive. i hope he asks me out.

that girl was not claire. but she will factor in somehow.

I'll give you attempted murder, but we don't know what their motives are for the rest. Maybe they know more than we do.

i don't think libby's an 'other'. at what point might she have hooked up w/ them? if she survives, i can't wait till her looniness kicks in.

best... ending... yet.

I can't see how she'd live through that. Gut shots are fatal, at least when you don't have the means to do major surgery to repair all the damage, and Jack certainly doesn't. I know it's TV and all, but I think she's dead - her wounds, even if they were able to be repaired somehow, would have her flat on her back for the remainder of the show and effectively out of the action. I think, however, that we may see her again in other characters' flashbacks - remember we saw Boone long after he was dead.

As for Eko, I can't believe he's being killed off - they wouldn't show that in a preview if it were true. Doesn't he have a flashback ep coming up next week or the week after? What we saw there could be something from the flashback rather than the episode itself. There's no telling it was even Eko - ABC is very creative with their previews.

That's true in terms of motive, we don't know the whole picture yet, so some surprises are almost certainly coming our way. But forcible removal of Walt at gunpoint and without explanation doesn't speak of goodwill towards men.
