I know that I have asked this before. However, I was thinking of one recently and thought that maybe you people have thought of some others as well.

The one I think would be kickin' is:

Muse - Bohemian Rhapsody

I'd rather have cold, dirty needles jabbed in my ears than hear "Bohemian Rhapsody" ever again.

Thank you for sharing, bud. I have never heard of the band cold dirty needles jabbed in my ears. But, I have heard of the song Bohemian Rhapsody.

my default answer for this rock'n'roll fantasy thread:

the new pornographers - "go all the way" (raspberries)

others:

ladytron - "like a motorway" (saint etienne)
rocket from the crypt - "know your product" (the saints; apparently done on last australian tour)

Flaming Lips did a really fun cover of Bohemian Rhapsody. It was like live band karaoke, but with the whole audience doing the vocals. Actually, I really appreciate that bands like the Lips and Belle & Sebastian go out of their way to incorporate other, often contemporary artists into their live sets...

Didn't Muse try to pull off a Lightning Bolt cover recently?

I had a dream where The New Pornographers version of A Flock Of Seagulls "It's Not Me Talking" was playing in the background. Not that they've done that song, but it was in the dream.

I'd rather hear someone not in that pop vein cover Go All The Way. Why fuck with perfection and only get a cheap imitation? That's not fair, New Pornos would kill that song.

Have Massive Attack cover it with Liz Fraser, Beth Orton, and Beth Gibbons harmonizing it or something.

Speaking of NP and Neko, I'd love to hear them cover Sour Times all rocked out. That'd be hot.

I saw Jon Brion once do a cover of Strawberry Fields Forever in the way he imagined Chuck Berry would cover it. It was pretty awesome.

np: Phil Ranelin "Vibes from the Tribe"

I always wanted Phish to cover Supertramp's "Goodbye Stranger" when I used to see them.

Speaking of interesting covers, on his recent covers reckid The Church With One Bell John Martyn does a pretty cool version of Portishead's "Glory Box".

he started off his set in a casual way just asking the audience what they'd like to hear. So he first played a straight cover of Waterloo Sunset which was amazing and then followed it up with Strawberry Fields Forever...so great.

Futurehead's cover of Kate Bush's "Hounds of Love" is awesome. I've actually never heard the original  , but that's a great song.

Cannot fathom this but will refrain from predictably posting a YSI of same.

Go ahead, I haven't heard it either. Predictable would be if you were... a certain other poster, and created 3 new threads with 3 separate Kate Bush songs.

Time for my quarterly plea for Ted Leo + Pharmacists to cover Boz Scaggs' "Lido Shuffle."

np: The MC5 - "I Want You Right Now"

Ah, Internet business models. Make the service almost impossible to use, so people will accidentally click ads.
