I suppose that is why I love Shrimp Boat and Tom Zé and Roy Wood and others of that ilk so much. They take chances. And something about the chances they take rings true with me.

They follow their muse over the side of the ship in the middle of the ocean. And I love them for it. I'll swim right along with them.

I like indie rawwwwwk, twee pop and sadsackofshit music. If it sounds like Pavement, I'll love it. If it's bouncy and dirty like Belle and Sebastian, I'll love it. If it makes me want to draw a hot bath and settle in with a glass of Dran-O like Mark Kozelek, I'll love it.

But that's about it. Everything else is just okay.

Most of us here do like a lot of the same kind of thing. It's what brings us all together. But most of our tastes do diverge at some point. I've taken a lot of crap for my evangelizing of some of the above bands, partly because it's not music that conforms to overall board tastes. But I think you all still do respect my divergent tastes... we all respect each other, I think.

I just got to thinking as to why I do love this stuff that some of y'all don't.
It's just willfully different, but not just for the sake of being so.
It's strange people making music that is true to them and, therefore, strange.
Suppose I share a little of that personality so I identify.

Guess I'm trying to inspire conversation here as to why you love some of the music you do.

Not trying to get snobby, even though I guess you could read it as such.

That's not the same as billboard writing for Katie.

Hey we have almost the same initials. Why is this something I'm just now noticing?

Yeah he has the greatest hits coming out plus this new one. Also The Electric Ghosts which is great. I was really gutted at how poor the new one was though. Look forward to the greatest hits. I still don't have a good copy of speeding motorcycle, so hoping.

I'm starting to think Todd uses a template of a thread and just changes some of the words around.

i tend to gravitate towards people who use traditional chord arangements with a very slight twist.
