I like stuff that only I would like, or some bullshit like that. No offense Todd, but saying I like stuff that's different , seems like something those emo kids on South Park would say. Hell, it is something indie scenester kids and emo kids would say.

I hear that's what happens when you first realize you're gay. A sort of coming out of closet. :D

I realize how it comes off.
But I tried to explain away my snobbery in the first post.
Oh well.

I guess what I like here is the passive-aggressive aspect of "I guess I just like stuff that's different" because it allows us to work a bit to fill in the implication.

I didn't think it was snobbery, I just don't think you need to justify liking Shrimp boat, even if others on this board ridicule you.
That goes for Borg too, even if he does actually have extremely bad taste in music. I don't know that for a fact, but that seems to be the consensus around here.

Wasn't trying to justify so much as say that I came to a conclusion as to why I liked these bands. And to start a conversation about if any of you know what draws you to certain bands.

I generally don't like to criticize people's musical tastes *cough*, but there's one thing to like something that's different, and it's another to like pure and utter crap.

Critical consensus is on my side re: previously mentioned bands.

I like indie rawwwwwk, twee pop and sadsackofshit music. If it sounds like Pavement, I'll love it. If it's bouncy and dirty like Belle and Sebastian, I'll love it. If it makes me want to draw a hot bath and settle in with a glass of Dran-O like Mark Kozelek, I'll love it.

But that's about it. Everything else is just okay.

Todd you are SUCH an individual. Everyone must admire your overly diverse music taste.

....

(The day Todd starts liking "different" music will be the day that music ceases to exist.)
