Wow. You probably need some older stuff first. RIYL not-so-poppy alt country stuff (not quite 16 Horsepower but not The Jayhawks either). Springsteen, Dylan, Richard Buckner, Dave Alvin, Elvis Costello all come to mind. This new one is definitely a little darker than his previous works.

I put "Crooked Frame" from With These Hands on my Angry Young Men mix, but this new one isnt much like that.

probably the most 'indie' of all his albums, its got a mellow sort of drone. You cant go wrong with any of his stuff. PM me for a bigger YSI if interested.
