i love his voice, especially when he really starts wailing. this one wasn't even a grower like Alec Ounsworth for me, I just took to it right away.

It's great until he goes into the bono wail mode then it's finger-nails upon the glass for me. Love "Lost In Boston" but i can't get through "Louisiana".

louisana is mad weird though, especially on a musiclal level. strange that they chose it for an opener. i love the squid and the wail though.

lousiana is twisted (which i enjoy), and it's ballsy of them to open with it.

I'm thinking I'll just buy this one without hearing it. Even if I'm not expecting it to blow me away, I'm sure it will be good.

I'm in Drinky mode here. I've waited this long, knowing that Kev had it, being extremely jealous, that now I don't want to hear anything until I'm holding my actual copy. I may have to visit my doctor about one of those over-four-hour erections between now and then, though.

After one listen, I really like this. Too early for me to rank it with their other albums, but it definitely doesn't disappoint.

I bought tickets to see them here at the end of may, but totally forgot that the date was when we'd be in san fran. That was a pretty stupid mistake, but I'm mostly just pissed that I can't see them.

I think LA's a fantastic opener. Breezy, good build to it, lyrical content that gets referenced in other song, welcoming melody, etc.

Indie princess?

this album just keeps on delivering.

"emma, get me a lemon" is pretty incredible. it feels like a cross between the stylistic elements that make "everyone who pretended to like me is gone" one of my top 5 of he 2000s and combines it with the more rocking sensibilities of "bows + arrows."

i put it at number two for 2006 immediately after my first spin, and i don't think it's going to get any lower. but i don't think it'll bump the liars.

For some reason I have a hard time getting into them. I love the song we've been had. However, I think it is the voice. I don't think it is bad, I just think it takes a lot of patience and getting used to. Like Doug Martsch's voice.

I will continue to listen to this, but it is not even in my top ten yet.

For at least the third time, it's not the voice, it's the phrasing.
