I was trying to dig stuff up on viachicago but I couldn't find anything. I know that 2006 was speculated as the release time a while ago, but I haven't heard anything. Does anybody know? Any links out there?

I ask because I've been listening to Loose Fur a lot lately, and thinking that Tweedy put as strong of a song as "Wanted" on the side project album makes it seem as if he has some really strong candidates for the real thing.

Looking forward to this probably too much.

No, but I think Radiohead may be coming out with something this year.

Yeah, I think it's called "LP7."

sweet. thanks.

sounds like a very organic process...if they work it out more democratically i think this lineup (which is sick) can stay together for an album or two and make some devastatingly good stuff. imagine if they had recorded "a ghost is born" with nels cline. "spiders" would have been even better (and jen would have hated it even more.)

I had heard it got pushed back, org. to be out this summer. Looks like fall or Q1 next year. Golden Smog has a new one coming out btw coming up here.

Oh, and if you haven't picked up Kotche's solo outing...

I haven't. How is it?

New Golden Smog is very exciting. I love both of the albums they have out. I mean, anything Tweedy touches I generally love, but that stuff is damn good. "Down By The Old Mainstream" is the kind of thing I think Loogar and all the Stones fanatics would even love.

I doubt it will come out in 2006 knowing how Jeff works. Watch it be spring 2007. We'll be lucky if it's out a year from now. The last two releases have been in spring/summer so I think we'll see it around May 2007.

Yeah, I enjoy those first two Golden Smog albums. Not sure if I care to hear what Wilco has to offer anymore.

Well if this is the thread for Wilco fans who need something to hold them until the new one is released...

This year's Son Volt keeps getting better for me. I liked it with first listening and it has grown . Saw them live last week, (with Drive By Truckers and the guy from Meat Puppets opening... DBT were a little disappointing)... but all of Jay's songs on the new one hold up very well when played with the classics off Trace and Wide Swing etc.

Get Son Volt.

i don't know about that. it's not really son volt is it. i guess it is in the same sense that wilco = jeff tweedy essentially.

i saw jay farrar with canyon a few years ago when he put out "terroir blues" and while the show was pretty good, that album is lacking. he's recovered?

I noticed the word organic in this thread. Good work.

Haven't seen angular yet though.

Ha... it's ok for Tweedy to fire a band... but Jay shouldn't?

Yeah, I think Jay is back in form... in my opinion.

I mean Jay can do what he wants...Tweedy just knows what he's doing when it comes to hirings and firings as evidenced by this oeuvre. Farrar's has been pretty spotty since UT broke up, which is 13 years ago now.

you got myspace? If not, join up just to hear previews from band's upcoming albums, or preview ones already out.

nope, just get previews, though they might be full cuts on a couple. More than 30 secs def.
4 songs:

52202: very catchy
Corvette: Rock.
Long Time Ago: Nice singer/songwriter fare.
Another Fine Day: Plays like a Tweedy song, sounds like a FL song though.

FL? Flaming Lips?

I don't know about this...I'll wait to hear full songs. I hate clips.
