First heard these guys on the Stiff Records Box.
Then I bought their best of comp. I just never get sick of these guys. Too much fun.

Don't they play on The Great Rock and Roll Swindle?

Yes.
Apparently they do a song called "Who Killed Bambi?"
Never saw the movie though and never heard the tune, but that little piece of info is in the liner notes to the comp I have.

No, no, and no.

And stop bumping/shilling this band. They were nothing special.

That was not a *bump*, it was a dire warning. If anyone out there is looking for stuff similar to the Damned, Ian Dury, and Nick Lowe, there so much better stuff out there (in quanitity and quality) than Tenpole Tudor.

I respect your opinion, you know that.
And I am not totally disagreeing with you.
But I also happen to like this band a lot.
And it's one download --- a free one at that. So a "warning" is pretty unnecessary.
It's just a free taste, hopefully of something new for some people. And some of them may actually like it.

Fair enough. But I would direct the The Damned and Ian Dury folks (not so much the Nick Lowe folks) to the Yachts, the Records, 999, Wreckless Eric, and a whole host of others who made consistently crisp, edgy power pop.

The Damned and Ian Dury are near and dear, so I tend to react strongly when they are compared to others.

I don't think T.T. sounds like any of the bands in the RIYL, per se. It just would appeal to the people that enjoy those bands, methinks... the quirky, kinda punky Stiff Records bands from the early/mid 80's.

It's tough coming up with an accurate, RIYL, ya know. I even thought about putting The Pogues in there, but that would be misleading.

I like Tenpole Tudor, and probably more than any band you mentioned other than The Damned. And it was PT who introduced me to them several years ago so I have him to thank for it.

I think we need to recruit some new obners though for PT to shill his bands to ...because it is the same ones over and over and over ;)

It's called living within my means.
But yeah, my reputation is well-deserved.
Oh well.
It's tough trying to turn you people on to new bands, when you have the same passion as I do, but much more disposible income.

Still... I like to feel useful. So I keep trying.
:D

Would you believe I found one of their albums in the vinyl "El Cheapo" bin about 16-17 years ago at friggin' Wal-Mart?
