Basically, these people still think that 9/11 Al-Qaeda Iraq Saddam Hussein was one large entity and haven't been able to face the facts.

Sad, sad stuff. Television, the opiate of the masses, has finally found it's way into becoming something most people are dependent on, and scarily, for information in as far as what they believe in on world policy.

"Can't seem to face up to the facts, I'm tense and nervous and I can't relax."

You know that 38% of people in the Cold War though the USSR was a member of NATO? Or that 70% of people have no idea about the Medicar Prescription drug coverage, even after the AARP ran all those damn free Bush ads?

The masses are asses. The reason Republicans tend to win is that their message is easily distillable. I would love for Dems to stop whining and figure out a way to make our message more distillable. Unfortunately we are OK with the idea of Noble Failure...and doomed to lose until massive changes are made in our campaign structures. Never gonna happen, but a guy can dream can't he?[/code]

That's funny. I did that yesterday as well. Clicked on page "553" at the bottom of the screen to see what we were up to in 2004. :)

I'm still right, tho, huh?
They won because Bush "shared your values, is a straight shooter, and will keep you safe."
As opposed to Kerry, who "actually voted for the 98 Billion before [he] voted against it."

and now, the Dems are crowing about how "they were right all along, and if they win the Congress back, they wiil impeach Bush, the fraud/liar/war criminal."

Guess what? Not Gonna Happen, not with that message. YOU DOLTS.

haha. Poor Loogar. Sometimes I feel sorry for ya. I don't know anywhere near enough to talk about the issue of campaigning and such, but I can say that for me it seems like one of those things that would become so huge and convaluded that I would just give up on trying to see a solution. But, then again, I am a huge pussy.

i love how loogar used to take it as his personal responsibility to crush my threads with the fist of death.

of course the masses are stupid...the thread and study proves his point. that doesn't mean i can't lament that fact.

Loog, it's pretty strong spin to say the worst thing about

is that it isn't easily distillable

But I get your larger point about republicans winning votes on terrorism, defense and tough on crime issues based on a simple and understandable message.

But welcome to the world of a fiscal conservative who has to fight the simplistic "I'm a gonna spend a lot of someone else's money on you" message with more complex arguments against taxing wealth, how DAT program don't work, federalism is a good idea, etc.

er·u·dite ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ry-dt, r-)
adj.
Characterized by erudition; learned. See Synonyms at learned.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Middle English erudit, from Latin rudtus, past participle of rudre, to instruct : -, ex-, ex- + rudis, rough, untaught; see rude.]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
eru·ditely adv.
eru·diteness n.
Word History: One might like to be erudite but hesitate to be rude. This preference is supported by the etymological relationship between erudite and rude. Erudite comes from the Latin adjective rudtus, “well-instructed, learned,” from the past participle of the verb rudre, “to educate, train.” The verb is in turn formed from the prefix ex-, “out, out of,” and the adjective rudis, “untaught, untrained,” the source of our word rude. The English word erudite is first recorded in a work possibly written before 1425 with the senses “instructed, learned.” Erudite meaning “learned” is supposed to have become rare except in sarcastic use during the latter part of the 19th century, but the word now seems to have been restored to favor.

good to see mommy & daddy's hard earned money going to such good use
