I've had Gardenburgers before, but damn, these taste very close to real BBQ'd meat patties. Look for the box with "homestyle classic burgers" on it. They're not cheap (I found them on sale for $3 for 4 patties), but I feel much better about eating them than a poor ol' cow. :(

Ingredients: Soy Protein Concentrate-Hydrated, Canola and/or Soybean Oil. Contains less than 2% of: Vegetable Gum, Salt, Autolyzed Yeast Extract, Wheat Gluten, Natural Flavor, Sesame Oil, Caramel Color, Dried Onion, Dried Garlic, Soy Sauce (Water, Wheat, Soybeans, Salt), Sugar, Safflower Oil. Contains Soy and Wheat.

Sorry, I thought maybe I could save the world with this post.

i really like gardenburgers but i like the ones that taste less and less like meat; i want the ones with whole oats just sticking out the sides of the patty.

Sweet. Veggies reprazant.

I've never tried those but they look good. Yeah, I usually prefer my fake meat to not taste like meat.

All I can say is traveling in Europe made Senor Six and I soooooooo thankful to live in a city that has so many restaurants with tasty veggie options. Veggie food done well is so damn good.

The European concept of "vegetarian" is either no red meat or less meat. Luckily we both eat fish. Anyway...

I've never tried these before, but I'll have to give it a shot. I eat the Gardenburger's grilled chick'n patties a lot.

That was the sale price- they were normally $4. It just seems expensive for what they are- patties made of soy.

I'm a cheap bastard, too.

Usually for me, two patties make a meal. But I still don't consider that expensive, even when they're not on sale. Real meat ain't that cheap. It just seems like vegetarianism being expensive is a widely perceived misconception.

P.S. I'm not assuming those of you who eat the fake meats are vegetarians, I was just sayin'...

eating healthy is more expensive than not eating healthy.
but i don't think being vegetarian is any more or less expensive than eating meat.

those are indeed very good. there is also another company with a green box, "morningside farms" or something that makes great chicken patties. i love this kind of stuff. i'm not a vegetarian, it just tastes so good.

Being as I'm a vegetarian and having weathered the storm of crappy vegetarian dishes from companies, the gardenburgers are top notch. They've really perfected them in the past few years. Morningstar is also a great company, though I would mostly get their entrees for breakfast (yum, painted on fat), or their chix dishes.

Oh, and wtf--I tell people an easy way to make salad dressing and people rise up and say how lazy they are--marinating is brought up and its "yay, where do I start!" :)

Considering that I can buy ground beef for about $1.50/lb. and get four patties out of that, I'd consider the gardenburger expensive.

And after you doctor up that beef, it'll taste better than the gardenburgers...

course, by the time I doctor em up, they're definitely less healthy...

I'm about as far from a vegetarian as one could get and I love the Morningstar Farms "chicken" things - nuggets, patties, and now stripps. I've got three strips in my lunch bag, in fact. These things beat the taste of most of the frozen nuggets. That they're healthy is just a bonus.

Yeah, Morningstar "buffalo" nuggets are great, as are a lot of their "chicken" things. I'm no vegetarian, but I like a lot of the fake meats. They're the ultimate lazy person food. I'm not so much into veggie burgers, though.

I did not realize that these were stuffed with heck.
Is it just the heck that you are eating out of these, or are you actually eating entire patties?
