Got my first listen to this last night. Very impressive. The second song, "Thin Blue Flame" is a front-runner for song of the year for me, but it is about 9.5 minutes long. Anyway, a very good album, and for any fans of Ritter (sort of a non-wimpy David Gray or a less tonally challenged Oberst) they should like this.

PM if interested.

I've heard nothing but praise for this so far.

My interest is piqued. I'm not too familiar with his previous work.

That cover art is creepy. Who took a bite out of that horse?

My sister's been lauding this for weeks now... Josh is okay, but in small doses for me. Yes, "Thin Blue Flame" is a great track.

He was great when I saw him at Newport Folk Festival. I really dig most of the artists on his label, Signature Sounds, especially Peter Mulvey.

Rodney asked me about this disc in April so I'm going to be lazy and paste my response.

Okay. This is very, very good. I think his songwriting has improved and it was lovely to begin with. He's a storyteller, really. The music is a little more on par with his first than his second and even the 9+ minute song near the end, which builds and falls and builds is beautiful and doesn't feel as though it's 9 minutes at all.

'Thin Blue Flame' is still awesome.

I finally listened to this album, and I immediately liked it.

"Thin Blue Flame" ++++

Agreed. Currently in the top 5 SOTY running, with B+S "Sukie In The Graveyard" and The Long Winters "Rich Wife"

I eventually just started going through your top 10, Saint Patrick. After I noticed we have pretty similar taste.

I already liked Destroyer and Young & Sexy, but you helped me discover the Long Winters, Josh Ritter and the Capes. I've only listened to the Capes once, so my opinion isn't completly formed, but it was good.

I have Ane Brun and Jon Auer downloaded, but haven't gotten around to them yet.
