What was with Landrieu avoiding to answer a question on building below sea level three times and getting another opportunity to answer it again and again?

Landrieu's answering it right now. but to answer your question, it's because they want him to answer it.

Why are the candidates debating the moderators instead of each other?

How did Nagin get elected in the first place? He calls political debates "boring" and has been laughing off any criticism Chris Matthews has thrown at him? He just doesn't seem to be a serious politician or elected official.

I wouldn't be happy to have either of these guys running my city right now.
Landrieu is definitely not made for tv appearances.

He was a bigwig in Cox Communications, and he ran on a campaign to get rid of the corruption and filthy New Orleans politicians and officials.

Also keep in mind: Louisiana politics is not like politics anywhere in the country. It's a whole 'nother animal.

So who is running for Governor in this next go-round (2007?)? Will Jindal try again? Why isn't Landrieu running for Gov.? What about Mary Landrieu? Edwin Edwards, maybe? John Breaux? Buddy Roemer?

I realize politics are completely different down there. It just seems like these guys are lightweights, especially Nagin.
Off topic, I don't get why they need two moderators who actually confront the candidates.
I like the use of video clips from past debates and other commentators, but I wish they had more of them, so they could show that clip that Nagin wanted to see.

Nagin's a businessman, not a politician. That's actually what I like about him.

I haven't been able to watch but I think Landreiu usually comes off pretty polished. Nagin won last time because he is a black guy that conseratives preferred over the usual black mayors like Morial.

I'm probably a little hard on Nagin, since the current mayor of Lincoln is a 70yr old woman with very little political and business experience.
After watching this, I'd expect Landrieu to win by at least 6pts, but I'm not sure how the polls are going right now.

Mary is happy being a Senator and will hold that office as long as John Breaux is relevant...Edwin is still in Federal Pound You in the Ass Prison, Roemer ceased to be relevant a long time ago.

Breaux would be REAL interesting. And he would WIN. But, HE OLD as well.

And, having worked in a bunch of states, they all say they are different, but New Orleans and Louisiana really are.

And Nagin is a Republican, who business folks liked, and saw that they could get someone aside from your usual THEM...as Fu stated

Immediate reaction here is, Landrieu shoulda gone MASSIVELY NEGATIVE.

Landrieu lost because he didn't reach out to local voters, while his oppoment was Nagin it to the streets.

What happened to all that support Landrieu was supposed to get from the 3rd place finisher? Also, what will the the Rainbow Coalition and all those advocacy groups say now about the black voters being disenfranchised by the hurricane? It seems as if they would have had a shit fit if Landrieu won.
