did. "Planet Telex" is quite out of control. His voice is just so full...none of the creakier stuff he loves to pull out nowadays. I see why you guys love this album so much...

You should hear his unreleased outtake of Debbie Gibson's "Lost In Your Eyes."

It's like being in heaven.

I swore off the YSI after the unpleasantness re: Blunt. I'm delicate, like Terence Trent D'arby, you know. Sniffs.

Its by far the most fun album to listen to of theirs. No thinking involved.

i've often designated this my 'desert island' record, but i love their other records so much that lately it feels wierd to call one my favorite, even though i've called the bends that for years...

How is it that a post about the Bends gets all these replies and my post about the Street Spirit video got NOTHING? Not a single response.

*sniff*

it's a great video, don't know what else to say about it, except that it reminds of when both the band and myself were much younger...

I'm a Kid A kinda guy, but The Bends and OK Computer are 2 and 2a for me. Kid A just happened to come out when I just started getting excited about music and hit me pretty hard. The Bends is a great album, and I'll prob make a point to listen to it on the road this weekend.

The Bends is a thoughtful album, and paying it attention pays off. Remember how wierd people thought The Bends was after Pablo Honey? I mean, yeah it's tame now, but only light of what they've released after it. Still, My Iron Lung was the lead single and tanked.

Ballsy but dumb move on their part.

But to say it requires no thinking on the listener's part? O.k. we've had 11 years to digest it, and some challenging albums since to compare it to, but in historical context, it's a deep album.

And it's my favorite out of their catalogue too, and i don't see that changing anytime soon.

I have never listened to The Bends. In full, anyway; I vaguely remember hearing Just and Street Spirit, and I used to have a cool live version of Fake Plastic Trees. But that's it. I haven't had too much of a desire to go back to Radiohead's rawk period. Dunno why.

I wouldn't call it RAWK at all.

And maybe you're missing out? Eh, you'll find it when you find it or you won't.

And is it me, or was Hail To The Theif pretty overrated?

absolutely not. HTTT was a quality record, and even though it may not serve as one of their masthead albums, it does a fantastic job at reconciling the different directions they explored in their previous 4 records.
