It's definitely very Sufjan-like

totally got me confused. i'll have to check this out for myself... because i'm a huge fan of brock but i think i'm the only one on this board who doesn't like sufjan.

I finally got around to listening to this yesterday...

1. Definitely a grower
2. Definitely an acquired taste/not for everybody
3. I like it though even on first listen
4. :!: Drinky and I agree on a band :!:
5. "Did I Step On Your Trumpet" is not only a great song title but an awesome song to boot.

Yeah this shit is weird, but I'm game.

Holy fuck.

But you know, since you like OTC, it makes sense that you might dig this. There's some great pop/melodic sensabilities underneath all the wierdness.

I think this has recently moved up to being my favorite record of the year so far.

I read a lot of good things about this in some magazine. Under The Radar, maybe?

He is/they are one of those bands that releases something like an album a year so I really can't keep up. But I heard good press of the Danielson Famile's first one back whenever that come out.

definitely check it out--he's great--but just understand that it's certainly an acquired taste. the new one may be a more accessible but half the people i play it for think i'm on crack for liking it.

I HATE the Danielson Family. HATE THEM.
but I will still give it a shot.

this does not sound like sufjan. maybe remotely musically. comparisons to architecture in helsinki, animal collective, islands and deerhoof are closer.

Yeah, I don't hear Sufjan here at all. If there wasn't a real, personal connection, I don't think Sufjan Stevens would even be mentioned in talking about this.

After two listens... like this a lot. I don't like Deerhof, but I can certainly hear that. I do like Animal Collective and can't hear that.

I'm with Puma on this one. I'm not saying it's bad. It's nothing if not interesting, but dear God, I cannot listen to this. I made it through six songs before I almost threw myself out the window.

I can't get into this. It seems like I should. But I don't know. There's something not doing it. It might be the vocals.
