Please, make them go away!! I am beginning to lose my mind. I thought I was because I was drunk earlier, but they have not subsided in the least over the last 3 hours. What will make them disappear?? I haven't had a full night's sleep in 3 weeks, so whatever you say will help me a lot. Especially if you can rid my inner left ear from registering vibration.

Always works for me, though I've never had them at this level: take a very deep breath. Now let it out as slowly as possible. Give it at least two tries.

Drink from the opposite side of a cup. I think it's the inversion and the intake of liquid that does the trick.

Later, post pictures of that here and I'll tell you if you're doing it right.

Years ago a friend told me sonething that has always worked for me:

He said hiccups are just a muscle spasm in your stomach. Relax your stomach and they will go away.

So try this: just sit for awhile and be calm, ask anyone around not to disturb you, just sit there and focus on relaxing your belly. You can breath deeply if you want, but just focus on letting your belly go. You will probably hiccup during this time but just keep relaxing it.

See if that works. It's kind of something you can train yourself to do. Over the years I've gotten better at it and now do it while walking or whatever---just so long as no one is trying to talk to me or distract me.

good luck.

haha. Me? A smarty-pants? Not even close. I just know that because my father says all the time that can't really do anything to stop your diaphragm from spasming. They just sort of go away when they go away.

Or make yourself throw up. Certainly not for everybody, but it works like a charm.

the trick is essentially in resetting your diaphragm. this can also be done by sneezing.
