David & David just swam through my head for the last few minutes. Sometimes once is enough and once is all that is ever needed to be made.

Image

1 Welcome to the Boomtown 5:31
2 Swallowed by the Cracks 4:16
3 Ain't So Easy 4:51
4 Being Alone Together 5:31
5 A Rock for the Forgotten 4:26
6 River's Gonna Rise 4:29
7 Swimming in the Ocean 4:00
8 All Alone in the Big City 4:42
9 Heroes 3:10

start to finish, greatness

One of the greatest albums ever made. I have such powerful connection to this music, just seeing the album cover made my palms start to sweat. LA in 1987... crack sold on every block in East Hollywood. From a bar on Melrose called Denny's... an album of brutal glory.

RIYL on a website:

Exile on Main St.
Queen Greatest Hits
Lucinda Williams Carwheels on a Gravel Road
pearl jam Yield

pretty accurate crosshairing.

A great record that I had completely forgotten about. I will have to dust this one off.

If Sheryl Crow had stayed with Baerwald, I bet her career would have unfolded a little differently. Less slick and more like her first album.

The first two songs on that album were played pretty regularly on WXRT here in Chicago and I liked them both. Never got around to buying the record, though -- or even hearing it in its entirety.

I'm guessing that I'll be able to find it in the used or cutout bins these days, though. Maybe I'll need to pick it up.

Track 1 was a big enough hit for me to want to add it to the station's library, but not big enough for my boss to let me.

Dipshit.

I wonder why Baerwald is so unprolific. He produces constantly but doesn't he only have four or five albums? I only remember a couple of David & David ones and two solos. Could be more.

From what I've heard of (and about) the album, I would think that Hotel California would have been included on there, too.

As far as I know D&D was only once, though they may have collaborated on production for other artists.

Frig, you're right. I used to have a 12" of "Ain't So Easy" but come to think of it that was only three songs. So that means there's only the two proper solo albums, plus the Hurleyburley sndtrk and the two New Folk Underground ones? Not a lot for 20 years+.
