Has anyone heard this curiosity?
It's The Cars -- reformed -- with Todd Rundgren taking the place of Ric Ocasek on vocals. Actually, it's like the Runt is channeling Ric's vocals. Eerie how much he sounds like him.

The first single is being played on WXRT in Chicago and, while I did not like it at first, it is growing on me. Once I get over the idea that Todd is trying very desparately (and very successfully) to sound like Ocasek, there is a pretty solid song at the root of it all. And.. Elliot Easton is still a damn great player.

A couple of weeks ago, I flipped past VH-1 Classic and hung around long enough to see a "Tuesday Twoplay" featuring "Tonight, She Comes" followed by that single by The New Cars. Believe it or not, The New Cars' song was better. It wasn't anywhere near as good as vintage RTB-era Cars (SK approved), but definitely better than their post-Heartbreak City dreck.

This isn't really a "New Cars" is it? It's just a bunch of old songs and one new one, recorded from a live show?
