...and just driving.
Hit the road with no plan, no destination, and nothing but my guitar and my tunes.

If I didn't have a family, I would.
I love the open road and the solitude.

Anyone else ever get that urge?

Yeah, I do actually. Maybe if gas didn't cost 3 dollars a gallon.

Yup. No guitar necessary. Usually when the kiddies are acting up, bills need to be paid & my wife is pissed at me for something. Of course, I could never leave the kids...the wife is another story :)

Quit your gas whining. You have it good.

with the price of gas right now?! you've got to be kidding. i haven't had that urge since gas was, like, 97 cents per gallon in the late 90s.

I don't have a car, but I do get the urge to steal one and then hit the road with no plan. Steal a gas card, too.

If I didn't have the urge to constantly do this, that would be the anomalous feeling. Two road trips planned, one to Ontario in July and (hopefully) Alberta and B.C. in August/September.

I'm going to Mexico in a couple of weeks, not a road trip per se, but at least I'm heading somewhere different.

all the time. don't get to do it as much anymore though. one of my favorites was a while back when me and my buddy just threw a tent in his truck and drove down to new mexico with no real destination in mind. spent 3 days checking out some indian ruins, some awesome hot springs and some crazy old churches in and around taos. good weed, good music, good times.

last year we drove through montana, alberta, bc and washington...which was cool...but everything was already planned out...so it's not really the same.

Just been reading about this german guy who has been travelling the world on his pushbike for 24 years or so. Just arrived in the Uk for a few hours and his bike got stolen, for the first time. haha. Although he did get it back, intact.

Martin Newell once did a bicycle tour of Europe.
Busked along the way.
True.

Well don't be getting any ideas. I don't wanna be walking down my high street and hear some crank playing shrimp boat tunes.

"Hey, get your very own shrimp boat covers cd here" says a wierd looking yank, wearing a worn out hop on pop t-shirt and pink tutu, whilst flicking away imaginary fairies that are flying around his head and trying to penetrate his brain again

Nothing better than this feeling. No where to be, everywhere to go. I really want to do this pretty soon. But I have a lot of fun just driving from Mobile over to where my dad lives. Sometimes I I leave the highway and go up through the Conecuh National Forest, roll the windows down, CRANK some good tunes, and just enjoy the country air.

A natural byproduct of the Taco Bell.
