You guys ever randomly pick out a long lost friend & try to find 'em through the internets? Ever get back in touch with someone, only to find out that they really didn't give a shit?

I think I just found an old friend through LinkedIn...his voice mail sure sounds like it could be him, but we haven't spoken in 10 years or so. Seems weird to leave a message after so long.

I found the first girl I ever kissed on the net bout 8 months ago.....the pic is on my myspace page (dov withthe fro)....wrote her....she wrote back, pleasantly surprised, small chit chat....i wrote again. she promised to write again, but never did....that was kind of disheartening......makes me wish i never wrote in the first place in a way....would have kept the memory pure.

bout three months ago, i found a girl i went to nursery school with. we werent really friends, but her name always stood out..so i wrote.. we exchanged two emails. it was nice.. then died off. thats fine....cool to reconnect.

I've found a girl I had a crush on in grade six but never really talked to and we became great friends and talk every day now.

Whereas I looked up some of my very best friends from grade eight just before I moved and we talked twice and fell apart again.

It's weird like that.

I just did a google search for an old college roommate and found this:
www.alexdittmer.com
Yeah, that's him.
Thought he might have something like that, seeing as how he is an actor.

Exchanged a couple of emails and caught up.
T'was nice.

I did this once. When I first moved to London, I cold-called a girl from high school I hadn't seen in 10 years just for the hell of it. We kinda dated a bit and were more friends than anything (we were 16). Anyway we made plans when she came through town and she came over. It was very surreal, she was different, obviously more of a grownup, but still the same girl I knew when I was a kid. We lost touch again after that, mainly due to the tainted water that hit her town (Walkerton) and killed over 20 people. That happened about 2 months after we met again. I'm glad we got to see each other again. Oddly enough I was just thinking of her today.

I've done this before, and had it done to me. A girlfriend from highschool looked me up on the web and emailed me after watching "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion." We've since kept in touch, and that's been nice. She's in California, and I'm actually going to be seeing her in mid-June.

I've contacted old friends from college. One of them was a guy I was pretty good friends with (never more than that, although I think he wanted more), and I told him straight up that if it wasn't cool for me to be contacting him, I was okay with that. Turns out he has a "very jealous" wife and didn't think it'd be wise. Whatever. I can mark that friend off my list now.

Another guy friend I tried to contact, and it turned out he was at the University of Maryland. He seemed interested in catching up and wanted me to call, but I never followed through.

As for ex-boyfriends, well, they're ex's for a reason. Have no desire to see what's up.

Other than that, I pretty much keep in touch with the people I want to keep in touch with. I do wonder about others at times, but don't have a real desire to look them up or reconnect.

I occasionally look up people from places I lived growing up. Never really found anyone, though.

My sister lived in the same place we lived in Kansas, about 5 years later, and I went to visit and called some folks who still lived there. Left a message with a friend's mom who always hated me, and never heard back.

I often wonder what my friends from 7-9 grades are like...I'd probably hate them now, tho ;)

You gotta wonder what they look like, though. Recently found a pic of a college girlfriend & was almost disappointed to see that she looked pretty good...in a NY/NJ mommy sort of way (that breakup wasn't a clean one, if you couldn't tell).

I recently got in contact with some friends (sisters) who I haven't since in about 8 or 9 years. I knew them from went I was stationed in the Netherlands back in 92-94. We remained good friends for a few years after that and they even came to my wedding. After I got married, I lost contact with them. Around the first of the year, I was able to contact thier parents who live in Winnipeg, who in turn passed on the word the girls. That may seem wierd, but I spent a Christmas meal with them when I was stationed overseas and visited them ( the girls) up in Winnipeg for a week, even took the family dog on my morning runs. Anyway, they were thrilled to hear from me and I have plans to visit with one of the sisters whom just took a promotion and moved to Chatanoga, TN when I get back to the states.

there's only one ex i'm curious about... first love, wonder how he's doing but i'm not going to bother.

myspace is good for reconnecting with old friends and people from my past e-mail me all the time but i really don't care to stay in touch because a lot of them i have absolutely nothing in common with anymore so what's the point?

a lot of people from high school i used to hang out with haven't changed one bit.

I had an opportunity to check in with a buddy of mine from those years in particular. Through a fellow grad student I was in school in London, I managed to get the cell number of this old friend, he apparently lived in Toronto but was informed that he's "really, really busy, so you'll just have a few minutes to catch up with him". Not surprisingly, I didn't bother because I almost certainly would have hated him. I can't believe I used to chuck snowballs at cars with that yuppie asshole.

One of my other friends from those years is, or was, a professional snowboarder in Whister, so I can google him from time to time and see what he's up to.

If people want to find me, they have to have been close enough to me to remember how to spell my name, and then it's just a simple matter of googling. Easier for them to find me than the other way around.

Do you know how many Jen Watsons, or Marie Richardsons or what have you are on the web? It's stupid.

It's probably the powers that be telling me to not even try looking. So I don't.

I've caught up with a couple of old friends, including a guy I've known for 25+ years but hadn't spoken to in 10 through the internet, which is cool. Most of these check-ups have seemed to be amicable but short-lived.

I'd like to find one person I was friends with in the 7th grade who moved to Texas. Everyone else you find out about soon enough around here and I'm not old enough to be out of touch with my friends from college.

almost three years ago, i met up with a friend who i knew from visiting puerto rico in the summers as a kid. we probably hadn't seen each other in ten or twelve years. we talked for about an hour and we haven't seen each other since, but my mother was apparently at his wedding last year. (i have no idea why.)

otherwise, i'm too young to be reconnecting with old friends. there hasn't been enough time to say we've really lost contact.

Look, all I really want to do is meet Jon Brion, Paul McCartney, and that Barry Squires dude, but so far no luck.

I think we should all bombard Jon Brion's myspace and tell him to listen to just one tune of mine.

Let's get the internet to work for me. Together.

you could just stalk him at intonation in june. i saw almost everyone who played last year on the grounds before or after their sets.

but is he going to play since he's got tendonitis? Is he coming?

Cause he's stopped his weekly largo gig indefinitely...

that was the only reason i was going to go to intonation at all, but I'm waiting till i find out one way or another.
