hot damn, i'm going to test ride one out tonight that i found. a $300 bike that this dude is selling for $150. man, i can't wait to commute via bike again. i can obviously shell out more for a nicer bike, but all I need it for is to get me from my apt. to work and back, and that's it. hopefully this does the trick.

to preface this, around july last year I had a $1200 bike stolen out of my garage. so, i'm not making that mistake again. and there's no reason for me to ride a $1200 bike through the city. but man, that was a sweet ass bike. that fucker(s)

Tell me the new clubs aren't in the garage, ryan.

My bikes are in my living room on a stand alone rack. I know they're safe, I use them more, cause they're right there, and that's about it.

Phil, what kind of bikes..and how long is your commute? Im thinking about this at the new job, but it all depends on how far away we find ourselves

3.2 miles one way, i've saved alot on gas and oil changes. I've got an '84 Trek 520 for bad bad weather, and a Trek x0-1 cyclocross (my everyday commuter). They're typically $12-1300, i got mine on ebay for $430, and I'm extremely happy with it.

Yeah I could do 3 miles (probably) and not be cursing myself along the way.

Nice bikes, Im not a huge fan of the trek designs.. I dont know why, but I cant seem to fit well into them - but I like looking at them.

Do you have one of these? I've wondered how well they would climb hills.

I got the 520 for $80, i couldn't argue, and I was looking at other cyclocross bikes I liked better, like the Poprad, and the Jamis Nova, but then I found this one for mad cheap on ebay.

I end up standing in the pedals almost the whole way unless i'm battling headwind, so i the geometry of the frame doesn't bother me, although I know some people who swear by Treks, and others who can't stand em. I think the cyclocross, now that I've owned it for over half a year, is tight as hell. It's really responsive and damn near bomb proof.

Naw, i got it from a guy who races, he had the receipts etc. and the shop that assembled it was also the shop that tore it apart and shipped it to me.

Although I'd buy a stolen bike, having had shit stolen from me in the past...
