Every album they chose that I know is incredible.

I haven't even heard of like 60% of that stuff.

Consider my fancy tickled.

I like lists that only have one album per artist. I'm going to have to bookmark this one.

What was this guys criteria?

It has to have sold less than 5000 copies and be completely unlistenable?

I have a few albums on there. The guy seems obsessed with the late 60's. Most of the albums are from 60's and 90's. I think I only saw 3-4 albums from the 80's.

Very cool list, just that it has a lot of stuff that I've been getting into lately in the psychedelic realm. Some of their choices for albums by particular artist are interesting..."Zuma" by NY and"Recurring" by Spacemen3.

Best album on that list (of what I've heard).

There's definitely some stuff on there I'd like to hear, and some great stuff that I love (those Flaming Lips, Funkadelic, Pink Floyd, and Sun City Girls albums to name a few). There's also some pretty cool/underrated stuff there that isn't really all that great, but it's nice to see them get mentioned. There's also some horribly overrated stuff in there, IMO, like 13th Floor Elevators, Comus, and United States of America. And am I the only person who likes Da Capo way more than Forever Changes?

Good list overall, even if it seems self-consciously "cool".

Maybe although Da Capo is pretty great too.

I saw Arthur Lee perform both albums in their entirity at separate shows a couple of years ago.

Other great albums on that list that don't get mentioned often are Golden Dawn (RIYL: 13th Floor Elevators) and The Misunderstood.

And its nice to see some Green Pajamas/Jeff Kelly love.

I dont know, the stuff isnt that obscure.. although as previously mentioned very 60s and psychedelia orientated..(which makes sense since the list seems to be from ptolemaic terrascope).

I second Billys recommendation for the Green Pajamas.. among others.. I personally really do like the Comus album.. for instance

I only have legit copies of 19 of 'em. I've got 5 others in less legit forms.

So I guess I've only heard 25 of those.

Yeah...I agree. I don't consider myself much more than a dabbler in psych music and I have about 1/4 of these and if you add the ones I used to own or have a different album by the same band I'd get up closer to a 50% familiarity.

Its also not a consistently strong enough list that it would inspire me much to check out the ones that I'm not familiar with.

I agree with ya Billy. It really isn't that deep when you look at the deep, deep landscape of psychrock. Its kinda like a listmania of most popular/recognizable albums that most good record stores would carry.

That Blue Cheer pick is pretty cool, as well as the Damon and Naomi w/Ghost album. That ranks pretty highly with me.

Drinky--if you are looking for Floyd that isn't your DSotM/Wall albums, I highly recommend Meddle and Ummagumma.

Yeah, Meddle is my 2nd favorite PF album, and I always really liked Ummagumma. I haven't heard it since I was in college though, and I've been meaning to get myself a copy for a while.

Thanks for this list. I'm lean generally toward the psychedelic side of music and am looking for some worthwhile downloading (and maybe seeking and buying). I didn't total it up, but I think I've got or heard about 35% of this list. I don't think I agree with some of it, but it's a place to start delving into some bands I've not touched.

And I know the people at PT have a boner for Pearls Before Swine but no matter how many times I listen to that disc, it still sucks.

And as far as FSA, I'd definitely go with New Lands over Further. Hell, Chorus might be better than Further, but what can you say...it's all just opinion.
