The other guys in suits were due to Desmond's sight being messed up after he washed up on the beach. There was only Kelvin. And Kelvin only wore the suit to fool Desmond into staying put while he fixed the yacht. Then he was going to ditch Desmond in the hatch.

Kelvin never thought the island was contaminated. It was an act to make Desmond paranoid.

Which could all be false, of course.

Did he spraypaint the word Quarantine on the hatch door while Desmond was unconscious, though? And he appeared to be under the impression at first that Desmond was his replacement. So why would he need to wear a suit to trick someone working for Dharma?

1) This Libby crap is all too strange. I think she's much more important than we now know.

2) Where's Sayid?

3) Will Michael's guilt bring him back to rescue?

4) Now that the override of the electromagnetic containment has been done, how will the island be affected and will it even be special.

5) What in the world was the deal with the ruins of the humong statue with only a foot with four toes left?

There's more, but this is what I ponder most now.

1) Oh definitely, but to what extent? I wonder if they included in her contract for her to come back and film cameo spots in the future, even though she's leaving the show.

2) Sayid is way on the other side of the island at Deserted Other Camp #2 with Jin and Sun.

3) I was really expecting Michael to hop into the boat and then sail over to Sayid and the happy couple and tell them what happened, but it looked like he was heading straight away from the island.

4) I always thought the button had some secret connection to the Monster. But that seems unlikely now. Nevertheless, it's been a while since we've seen the Monster or any polar bears. The island doesn't appear to be so big that this stuff could just disappear.

5) Yeah, that. Um... got me. But you know Sayid, Jin and Sun aren't going to tell anyone else about it until the information is irrelevant.

Right. I meant to comment on that before. Desmond was right, Locke was wrong. The Pearl was just a psychological test. They seat the two goons in front of a bunch of monitors, tell them they're observing a psyche test and to write down everything they do and everything that happens.

They do so but it's just a test on them so the notebooks shoot out of a tube into a middle of a deserted clearing. It would appear that they're meaningless and unimportant, but I wouldn't be surprised if reading a few of them would be very educational.

for a TV show it's pretty high budget.
Huge cast, complicated sets, quality filming and special effects.

Wow. Who knew?

Guess I should give it a try.

But you'll never convince me it's better than CSI - Las Vegas.

Absolutely owns CSI. Much more subtle, slightly higher brow, etc. No silly snapshot moralizing "lessons learned" segment at the end of each episode, even if it's not called for, etc. I think the writing on CSI talks down to the audience, relies on flashy editing/gruesome subject matter, whereas Lost literally responds to its audience, tries to outwit it at times, and for a flippin' tv show, it actually maintains an odd sense of wonder.

Sorry, pop culture tv stuff is one the main topics with me and my friends...we go on for hours about this shit at the local pub. I like the Grissom character, but that's about where things begin and end for me and CSI.

End of the day, I'm just excited that we even *have* something worthwhile to discuss that is on mainstream, primetime tv.

so, if within the shorter time of the system failure when desmond was in control, brought down a fucking plane....why didn't some major shit happen this last time? i mean the counter imploded...we are led to believe that this was much more severe, yet the boat that brought gale over to the pier just bobbed in the water....the yacht, etc.

I think Widmore IS Hanso.

SHEFRAC thinks Michael and Walt will cross paths with Sayid and Jin/Sun en route to his rescue destination, and Michael will be so overcome with remorse and guilt that he will join them in going back to save the Bizarre Love Triangle.

"Henry Gale" is obviously "HIM." Remember how profusely he was praising "HIM" while being held prisoner in the hatch. Fucker's got a messianic complex to beat the band.

My bet is either Eko OR Locke survived the blast, but not both.

The thing that puzzles me so is the plane was completely inadvertently brought down by Desmond's failure to enter the code on time, so how could everybody be there on purpose, as the intertwined backstories demand us to believe? That was a definite mindfuck last night!

Even though both Desmond and Mr. Krabs are dead, I hope they eventually explain what Desmond did to end up in Scottish military prison, and how Mr. Krabs ended up going from the U.S. military officer who released Sayid from POW captivity in Iraq to a Dharma guinea pig.

AND WHAT ABOUT FROGURT?!?!?!?!?

Watch season 1 on DVD, season 2 comes out in October. If you're not hooked after the first 3 or 4 episodes, you'll be the first I've met who's been able to resist. It's an awesome show.

I wonder the same thing. They might just have it be that the magnitism screwed with the plane enough to blow an engine or something rather than actually bring the whole thing down. Is still doesn't explain why this one did nothing to the boat Michael got on though.

I'm guessing it turns out Libby was an other who acted like she was in the crash and she has something to do with bringing them all down in that plane. I agree that it seems awfully weird that the plane happend to be flying over at just the right time for Desmond to follow the other guy out of the hatch and almost miss pressing the button. Not sure how they'll get around that but I'm thinking Libby has something to do with it.

libby HAS to have something to do with either Dharma or Widmore. maybe poppa widmore arranged the yacht thing to make sure desmond would crash on this island (no idea how), and Penelope somehow knows of all this and is trying to track him down....

Whoa. Are you serious? You're really talking about the original CSI only? The Miami one is a thinly-veiled "soap opera" version of the original---it's generally a piece of sh*t. Never really watched the NYC one. But the original is pretty much the only current tv show I have any interest in watching.

Every little clip of Lost I've ever seen makes it look like a serious over-done drama fest. Then again I'm a huge fan of Six Feet Under which is probably the biggest drama-fest I've ever seen on tv (save for Twin Peaks, my all-time fav).

En tous cas...

(waiting for a hailstorm of hate mail from the 33 pages of Lost fans)

Widmore is the father of Penelope, whom Desmond was in love with. For whatever reason, Widmore doesn't like Desmond and will do anything and everything to keep them apart.

Some of my thoughts:

- what was up with the bird saying Hurley's name? I also was under the impression that the reason the Others let Hurley go was because he was the only one who didn't have a gun.

- Micheal and Walt leaving-- in a way, I hope they stay gone, because Micheal has irritated to me to no end these last few episodes, but I'm sure his guilt will get the best of him. Also, wonder what Henry meant when he said, "We got more than we bargained for with Walt." Re: Walt's abilities??

- the black smoke... we can't be sure that was Sayid's signal fire. We've seen black smoke on the island before.

- Locke and Eko-- I don't know if either of them will be alive. I was happy to see Locke was wrong, about a lot of things. If he does survive, I'm curious to see if the lack of electromagneticity will cause his legs to give out again. As for Charlie's strange reaction, I think he was in shock or has somehow forgotten what happened.

i find it really hard to believe that everyone in michael's group was willing to still follow along him after they found out what he did. i mean, come on, think of how vengeful these people are. i think they have a much bigger plan that includes michael.

Following the 4-toe statue oddity and Desmond wailing that there's nothing else out there, my idea which is probably jack-all:

Electromagnectic phenomena causes time, space or dimensional rifts and the island isn't on Earth. Or possibly is far into the future. Or different dimension. Things that crash are things that are pulled into that dimension/time/other place.

Or maybe the island is an experiment in dimensional travel and is the only solid object there?

I'm troubled that there are test subjects pushing the button instead of Area 51 type supra-military spooks doing it. If it's dangerous to the rest of the planet you'd think it would be locked down tight. Unless Dharma/Hanso never told the government anything about it.

Yeah, though Desmond and Locke said the plane crashed September 21, 2004. Doesn't mean they're in 2006 now, though.

I concur with this as well. CSI can't even touch Lost in terms of how far these writers have gone in setting up this show's rich backstory. And I enjoy the CSI show, too. Try watching the first couple of Lost episodes in Season 1.

I taped the finale last night and look forward to poring over it again and again to see stuff that I almost certainly missed.
