i usually ride all year round, but i hear you on the warm spring day thing. that first shorts & t shirt ride is the best. and not a day goes by that i dont think 'just keep going' as i ride up to my building.

it's amazing how much better I feel in the morning w/ a little exercise. i do all of my working out after work, so this is always a nice little eye opener.

Yeah, I rode through the winter this year, and spring is nice. Still, there's something about pounding through a snowstorm passing completely stopped traffic, and getting home to a nice warm apartment only to realize, you're really not that cold at all.

Ryan, did you get on this kick after Duke's? And when do you want to meet at duke's again? Bring Dr. J this time.

i rode it last year too, until the bike got stolen. so i've been on this kick for a while.

i'm down for duke's. maybe next week? i'll see if the Dr. can make it.

Do you stink when you get to work. Thats the thing I worry about. Of course, it will be 100 degrees where I am for the next few months, Im sure. That tends to promote stinkiness.

nope. i don't push it THAT hard that i'm a complete sweaty mess in the morning. and, it's cooler in the a.m., so all is well. having an office comes in handy because i can shut the door and change my clothes. before the office i had to change in the bathroom which was a bit awkward.

I wanna buy a bike for leisure riding since I live very close to a great bike path. This just may inspire to start looking around at prices.

I push it hard, and i carry a shirt to change into and some deodorant. Although I have a coffee stain on the shirt, one of my mugs leaked a tiny bit. And it went all the way through... Oh well.

I would have changed in the faculty men's room, but i guess it isn't in the cards.

the one i got i recently bought off of craigslists for $150. rides great, but I do think I need to take it to the shop for a little tune up/adjustment. but still, a bike + helmet for $200 is pretty sweet.

I, too, biked to work today. What a nice ride... very little wind, so I wasn't cursing into the air along Elston.

my route is:

southport to lincoln
lincoln to wells
wells to illinois
illinois to dearborn
dearborn to grand

the last couple steps are just a mild doubling back to account for the one ways. that period between old town and river north seeing the tall buildings as i'm riding in is pretty :rawk:

that's a good route. Gets a little hairy around North/Wells at times. When I worked at the Merchandise Mart, I took Lincoln down.

I'm doing Damen --> Elston --> Milwaukee --> Kinzie --> Clinton --> Jackson now and that's a nice ride. Bike lanes the entire way.

Yeah there is. It's called riding on the beach in the late afternoon. It's not even Memorial Day & I've already seen 50 hot girls in bikini's

I've rode 25.2 miles in three days, that's probably more than I rode all summer any year as a kid.
My trip time is down to about 22 minutes now, I try to haul as much ass as possible at night due to the general creepiness of the bike paths.

there's a guy who rides to neo some nights wearing 4-inch soles on heavy boots. i have no idea how he does it.

i didn't work today, but i'm riding a lot tonight - ravenswood to a show at logan square to dancing at darkroom and back to ravenswood. we'll see how that goes at 2am.
