•The pitcher can dance around the mound
•Big arcs on the pitches -- and it's a lot harder to hit than you'd think
•No stinkin' gloves

I've never ever heard of this 16" ball but, seriously, those are what you'd consider its selling points?

<---- I'll keep my glove, thankyouverymuch

my friend Ed busted his finger trying to catch a 16" ball and he's had two surgerys since then.

As a guitar player that is why I no longer play 16" ball.

I've always been partial to Mizuno.

In terms of breaking the glove in, Juice, check out this stuff called hot glove:

http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/ ... age=family

I used it on my kids' gloves last year, and it worked pretty well. Just rub the stuff on & heat the glove in your oven. you'll still need to break it in a bit more, but it gives you a real good head start.

Which is actually what I went with when I shopped at lunch. It was a tough choice though, I had it down to three completely different gloves that I could have gone with: the Mizuno, a Rawlings and an Easton.

On a side note Aural, I'll make a post soon, but mark your calendar for the end of September. Juice is traveling westward for a weekend.

Damn. I saw this (I went to Sports Authority cause I had a gift card) and went with the good old fashioned glove oil instead. I've been reading about a lot of different methods for breaking a glove in. I'm considering parking my car on top of it for a day or so.

I'm a Rawlings guy. Always have been, always will be.

Just put some glove oil on it, put a softball in the fat part, not the pocket or too snug in the webbing, and tie it up with some twine.

I mostly caught in h.s., but I always kept an infielder's glove in addition to my catcher's mitt. I can't stand big softball or outfielders glove, so I play with the smallest infielder's glove I could find at the time. The ball barely fits in it, but it doesn't get lost that way.

Oooh! Interestingly enough, I'm planning on going to Texas around that time...though, I may extend it to October. Looking forward to your visit! :)
