I have no desire to work today because my current projects are boring as hell, and I feel like I have no challenges.

Oooh, this day is working out well so far. Two of my meetings have been cancelled. I just took 45 minutes to eat breakfast. I'm gonna spend time working on the company newsletter, something I consider "fun". :)

All I need is a cocktail. A mimosa would be lovely. Thank you, garcon.

That's good to here, mademoiselle.

(you're so cute with your "garcon")

Forget my comment about challenges... I just got a new one today. Not a fun one, but a new one nonetheless.

does anyone ever really want to go to work? would you work if you weren't getting paid or didn't need the salary? I don't think i have a bad job, but i'm not about to confuse it with recreational activities in terms of personal enjoyment.

My old boss a few jobs back had been pulling in 8 figure income for several years. We were shutting down our firm so a bunch of us were talking about what we might do next, and he was pretty serious about finding a new job or career challenge quickly in large part because he felt he was too young to retire and didn't want to set a bad example for his children. That's just another reason why I don't think I want kids. If I ever hit the jackpot, I don't want to have worry about the bad example I'm setting retiring at a young age and pissing away my wealth on foolish things and activities.

True, but you know it's bad when you go in on a Monday and you're already thinking "4 more days til Friday!"

I actually enjoy and like most of the people I work with, and I'm in a situation where I can pretty much grow in whatever direction I want. With that said, I do worry that because of this "jack of all trades, master of none" position, I'd never be able to find something with a comparable salary. Who knows, I could be wrong about that... there's plenty of people out there that do less at work than I do and still get paid shitloads.

Actually, as to your question whether I'd work if I didn't need the salary, probably so, but it'd be a more fulfilling thing-- like working at a record shop or working with the humane society.

Yeah, I'm with Dana. I always joke around that if I won the lottery, I'd quit my job. Well, yeah...I'd definitely quit my job, run around the world and do what I've always wanted to do without the worry of money. But, I'd eventually would want to do something productive, something I'd consider fun and worthwhile. Maybe even go back to photography school.

GAR must be on the road already. I'm sure he'd get my back that this is just crazy talk. 8)

I had a good friend that had great timing in the whole e-commerce boom, got in and out at exactly the right time and cashed in his stock options retiring in his mid 30's.

I was so happy that it was him that struck it rich cause I knew I could count on him to do the right thing and just retire. Spends his winters skiing and summers traveling.

Yeah, FUCK A JOB...a friend of mine was complaining about his career, prospects, etc and I was like "THEY CALL IT WORK FOR A REASON." No one says "I'm going to FUN," when they go to the office.

I have an interesting, not terribly taxing (physically) job, and I think it will lead to bigger and better things. But if I was a Plaintiff's lawyer who hit a $100Million verdict, NO ONE would see me again wearing pants, that's for sure.

And leaving work early today is gonna be a joke since I'll have to endure a minimum two hour drive home with all the holiday traffic making their grand exodus.

Can't you take a train or a bus or a carpool or something?

you do realize you're talking about la here right? luckily from where i live to my work it's easy to take the bus which is what i've been doing the past few weeks.

but getting to where t works from where she lives, it just doesn't work like that.

i wish la had a better public trans system.

and being at work today was pointless. my co-worker was watching lost on his computer, i've been goofing off on the internet and raided our cd storage closet since no one was here. there's like 3 people in my dept here.

Is your hot seed involved? If not, then we don't wanna hear the fact that you've got booze and we don't.
