Just saw it. Hmmmmmm. Not as good as I hoped it would be. I have to totally disagree with bort and say that I didn't think it was as good as X2. Thought it was a bit too short honestly. There was some really bad writing at times.

I mean it was okay. Yeah Storm was better in this one than the others. I don't know, just okay.

I did think K. Grammer was pretty good though.

I just saw it too so maybe i'm all caught up in it. Maybe I just love the characters so much it allows me to look past the story/storytelling. Most scenes with Xavier were superb.

I'll probably see this sometime this weekend.

Also, Halle Berry's acting in the first two films is atrocious.

Did anyone see Hugh Jackman on Conan this week? That guy's hilarious in person.

Just got back. I thought it was awesome for the most part.

I went total fanboy went Beast said "oh my stars and garters."

I was just shocked at the damage they did and didn't reverse at the end. I was... okay, fuck it. I can't discuss it without referring to stuff, so

<-- SPOILER ALERT -->
I can't believe they took away Magneto's, Mystique's, and Rogue's powers and that was it. They were gone. And to kill off the Prof and Cyclops and keep them dead? What the fuck? The Phoenix is reborn from the ashes. Grey'll be back. But what about the other two?

I thought for sure that, once Phoenix died, things would revert back to the way they were before her rebirth. It was just so bizarre. Not at all a proper ending for the end of the trilogy and end of the series. If they're planning an X4, I'd say it was an awesome movie. If they're not, I'd say it was pretty good but had some real huh? moments.

I'm pissed at the lack of Gambit. He was always my favourite.

oh and thanks for whoever posted the spoilers in the NO SPOILERS THREAD. I managed to accidentally catch a key character death that just RUINED THE ENTIRE MOVIE FOR ME.

Didn't you see the enormous letters that said Spoiler Alert?

Nowhere in my post did I say the movies were better than the books.

Yeah, that was me. You just happened to agree with my main supportive point. Colins can agree to disagree. IMHO, Jackson cut out most of the parts that added little or even detracted from the story: the one exception being Gandalf's return to Isengard and breaking Saruman's staff (one the book's finest moments).

<--- massive D&D dork who had the LotR trilogy in his movie Listmania 4 top 5

Moving on...

I'm with amgl on this spoilers-in-no-spoilers-thread issue. The warning was effective to from reading it, but it risks people discussing it spoils (pun woefully intended) the rest of the thread.

Seeing X3 a week from Wednesday. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, I didn't think starting a whole new thread to discuss the movie and discuss the ending was necessary. Hence the giant "Spoiler Alert" and then making the rest of that text smaller than usual.

Apparently you should stay through the credits for a final scene, which I missed.

SPOILER ALERT

My brother and dad said that they saw Magneto move the chess piece a little at the very end, but my eyes are so bad that I didn't notice it. Did anyone else notice that his powers came back? If so, I guess the mutant "cure" is only temporary.

Yeah, it's done very quickly and very subtly so that, even if you're paying attention, you go "wait, did he move it?" but I think it's pretty clear that it did move ever so slightly, so as to imply that his powers are/will slowly come back. And he took four darts to the chest so if his powers survived that, then Rogue's and Mystique's will most likely return too.

This thing took in over $44 million yesterday...biggest opening Friday ever. Yeeeeeeaaaahhhh....I think I'll stick with my "see it Tuesday, when they won't have to shoehorn me into the theatre" plan.

i just saw it. it was enjoyable, but didn't top x2 at all. and since it's the last stand, i'm pretty sure that was the last movie of this series.

i forgot about waiting through credits to the end. can someone eventually spoil what happens?

Moira MacTaggert discovers that Professor X might still be alive.

And it's the last X-Men movie for the time being but there will be a Wolverine solo movie, starring Hugh Jackman, and there's talks of a Magneto/Xavier prequel.

Is the "biggest ever" stat based on the actual gross amount in today's dollars and at today's cinema prices? I understand why it's important to people in the industry, but I'd prefer how many people actually saw it.

Looking forward to this.

I liked it a lot. I didn't think it was nearly as good as X2, but overall it was good. The beginning was a little clunky and there were a couple god awful lines here and there. They did some nice things to appease the comic book geeks. I've been reading the new X-Factor series lately, so I was psyched to see Madrox in the movie.

Apparently Stewart is pushing hard for a fourth movie. Says he's having fun playing Xavier, plus he gets stacks and stacks of free comic books for "research."
