aw
:)

well, that will be cool. i'm so nervous about the show.

i've been doing these funny drawings and i kind of wish i dedicated a wall to them. theyre all on 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of paper so it'd take a lot of them but i do a few a day... i would have rather done that then the painting with the 2 figures, i hate that one, except for the bigger figures teeth.

oh well. can't go back now.

i'm excited though. i should reconnect with old grocery store customers, old art teachers, family friends, hopefully the record store guys will come, and people i dont know. and maybe this old guy that had an art party in his house in an old carriage factory off lombardy. maybe he'll be there. was a nice guy but rambled a lot... but i liked that.
he was full of passion

the show went really well just to let you all know, and one of the owners of the gallery asked for my personal information to inquire about a job for me at the gallery in the near future.

im excited.
so many of my friends showed up, it was great. none of my old customers showed up, including the amazing artsy lady who isn't an artist which disappointed me.

one person who showed up, well two, but one in particular, that meant a WHOLE lot to me, was my nurse from my last surgery. it was really strange, like fate if you will (if that doesnt sound too dramatic), that she was my nurse. not only does she love tom waits, but she loves art as well and is an artist herself.
so, we've been corresponding and she came. it was so nice, and she is so beautiful and so is her little girl.

also, one of my favorite people to talk to that i know came. he works at the record store and i've always been intimidated, not because he works there or anything i dont even know why i threw that in there, but because he's an artist and i'm sure he's amazing, and he's really intelligent.. i was terrified of his opinion of my work, we didn't talk about it much but i'm so happy that he came, it really meant more than anything to me.

and an old man came up to me and said "i had no idea this was a high school show until your teacher announced it. i thought this was professional, you did a really great job and you need to keep up the good work"
it was nice.

so, i had a nice pre-dinner, had a great show, got offered a job at the gallery, didn't sell any work which was expected, got a non-alcoholic pina colada, and got to hang out with my boyfriend up until about 10 minutes ago and i gave him all of his presents.
i hope he liked them

Congratulations. I didn't get to actually see anything in your post until today because Flickr is blocked at work, but I'll say what everyone else is saying: your stuff is by far the best! (And Cheryl's is definitely next in line.) And I don't mean just a bit better - I mean way, way more mature. Most of what I see up there looks like the work of kids, but the two of you look like mature artists. It's really amazing. There's a thoroughness to the work that just isn't present in the others' pieces, like they're still finding their way. I think it's freakin' cool as hell that you're so young and already so talented. What a future you have in store for you.
