reposted from a couple other places:

most are going to be playable to kids (noise drives to camp, etc wont be). i'm going to be going crazy making these but it's gonna be rewarding. instead of me bringing all sorts of cds this year (and since ipods will get damaged and are not to be seen by kids) i have thought about making a bunch of mixes with awesome camp themes. they go as follows:

"IN WHICH NOISE DRIVES TO CAMP"
"IN WHICH NOISE DRIVES TO CAMP REDUX"
"IN WHICH NOISE DEPARTS FROM CAMP"
"MAKING NAMETAGS IN THE ART PALACE"
"WIGGLING THAT DARN WIGGLE"
"KICK IT ON THE BEACH"
"MUSIC FOR KIDS WHO LIKE SCIENCE"
"THIS IS METAL AND WE WILL ROCK AND WORSHIP ALL THINGS ROTTEN"
"SOME DIRTY ROCK AND ROLL"
"THE MORE POP SIDE OF POWER POP"
"THE MORE POWER SIDE OF POWER POP"
"PUNX"
"DANCE PARTY WITHOUT HIP HOP"
"NOISE SUMMARIZES HIP HOP IN 20 SONGS"
"REGGAE MUSIC HAD MORE THAN ONE VOCALIST"
"I MISS MY GIRL, MY CAR AND MY DOG: NOISE DOES COUNTRY"
"HEY THESE SOUND LIKE CAMP SONGS"
"WHAT IS THIS WEIRD STUFF"
"ART THAT CREATES ART"
"INSTA-HIP"
"CHEESEBALL ROCK"
"SONGS ABOUT THAT REACH NEW HEIGHTS IN EPIC-NESS"
"AW, TYR: SONGS FOR THE LITTLE ONES"
"SONGS TO PLAY IN THE DINING HALL AND PEOPLE WILL SING ALONG"
"NOISETOWN AND THE Z-BOYS"
"FANCY DINNER IN THE LC"
"SHMEE HEE HEE: CRAZY SONGS FOR CRAZY PEOPLE"
"MUSIC FOR HIGH STRESSED TIMES"
"DANCING HIGH ATOP THE MISTY MOUNTAINS: NOISE TOUCHES ON FUNKY MUSIC FROM AROUND THE WORLD"
"SONGS I WISH I COULD PLAY ON ACOUSTIC GUITAR IF I KNEW HOW TO PLAY ACOUSTIC GUITAR BECAUSE IM TIRED OF JOHN PRINE AND ANI DIFRANCO"

the point is that apart from what i bring and play for kids in the art palace and nature center and all the other staff members listen to like jack johnson and dar williams and shit and i don't need that crap anymore. last year i had an interest group where me and some kids hiked up this small mountain with a battery powered stereo and once we got on top we danced to those Stones Throw funk compilations, and then another time i had an interest group where we hiked down this path far away from camp wtih a boombox and listened to Mastodon and Godflesh and threw big rocks at trees. it was so fucking awesome . these kids were like 10-12.

oh i forgot about my interest group about punk rock where the director gave me money to buy t-shirts and some art supplies and i had a whole bunch of kids enlisted and we made up fictitious punk bands, with logos and what the whole make-up of the band was like and we listened to the clash and blank generation and made t-shirts for the bands we created. it was most excellent.

i got promoted this year. from counselor to unit coordinator. (we have about 25 counselors, only 4 unit coordinators). i didnt' even apply for it, but got begged to be it. im in charge of like 3-4 counselors/cabins and i'm like the most senior member on in that position (despite being the youngest by 4-5 years). camp is gonna be so awesome this year.

PUNX:

You totally need to include "Beat On The Brat" by the Ramones.

The punk/ska band The Aquabats cover the song Knowledge (OpIvy) and sing it like a camp song. They almost swear in it, but don't.

toots and the maytals - (pretty much anything off of funky kingston)

haven't heard the clipse remix. new junior boys has gotten about 10 spins in the last 2 days. it's fucking incredible until the last 3 tracks which aren't awful but don't fit with the rest of the album.

for real. i will differ with you only in that i feel only track 9 doesnt really fit in. love the last track (its great tho, really). maybe yeah, what you're saying about not fittin with the overall mood, but then again its also good, cuz its not as samey sounding as last exit and takes it into slightly veered dimension there, which could be a good/bad thing. synths at the end of in the morning is so fucking bonkers and i love it to death. ...these are just thoughts.

clipse remix album is also bonkers. but then again i am bias abt both these.
