The only reason I list three is obviously because one semi-final is not over yet due to last nights ridiculously awesome yet ultimately disappointing game.

Ward is the MAN! even though they lost and he got scored on twice. That dude is amazing. And the bastard is only 22.

I want the Hurricanes to win tomorrow and then I don't care who wins between the Oilers and the Canes. If the Sabres win tomorrow then my vote goes to Edmonton.

have at it.

Edmonton, so I can watch the city burn here in SK.

Two Cup finals (apperances) consecutive for Alberta, no? Calgary down in seven to Tampa in '04, no NHL last year, Edmonton this year.

Edmonton, of course.

I've seen very little of this playoffs, however. Shitty scope of coverage by the CBC.

Although I was born a die-hard Leaf fan. My money was actually on the Sens this year. But since they're out, I've jumped on the Oilers bandwagon.

We were travelling in Alberta and BC several years ago when the Leafs were the only Canadian team left in the playoffs. Every sports bar we went into, to watch a game, was rooting for the Leafs (and it's not often you see Westerners cheering for Toronto!). I'm happy to return the support this year.

I'm one of these Canadians that doesn't automatically root for the "Canadian" team. I'm rooting for Buffalo; I like the way they play and I think the franchise deserves it after all these years. Edmonton is a nice story though and if Carolina makes it to the final, I'll root for Edmonton. I hate the fact that Carolina is even close to the final. The team is nice and all, but they don't draw flies in the regular season, and I think there were some 1500 tickets unsold for Game 5; the cheering when Buffalo scored was almost as loud as for the Hurricanes. Move the franchise back to Hartford already, or better yet, Quebec City.

I picked Carolina because you Canadians keep this sport going into June, which is too long. Once actual ice melts, stop playing and go skateboarding already.

yeah, whose idea was it to move all these hockey teams to the south? i still don't really believe there's a team in nashville. i mean, i know that's what it says on their jerseys, but it never sounds right.

Hey now. What's all the hate on the South for? I mean, I am sure Carolina is there because they were either the highest bidder or the only ones that wanted to pay for it. But, the south has every right to have a team.

What's the deal with the Montreal Expos. I mean, come on. Why is there a baseball team where the average temperature is below...well below summer temperatures? :)

That argument just doesn't make any sense.

It's not about the South or the weather. I have no problem with franchises in Anaheim, L.A., San Jose, even Nashville, but Carolina has never supported the team with any kind of attendance numbers ever. I probably shouldn't throw stones since I am/was an Expo fan, but Montreal did once support the Expos, their in-attendance is more a result of being screwed over by MLB and team ownership. R.I.P. Expos.

Yeah. I can see that. I guess we just gotta let the transition of NASCAR make it's way completely over to the west coast before we'll see any real spike in Hockey attendance. But, are there that many more fans at a Sharks game or a Ducks game(excluding this year because there is always more when a team is in the running) than at a Hurricanes game? I have never really noticed. The only reason I am rooting for the Hurricanes at this point is due to location. It's not based even in some real merit compared to the Sabres. Plus, it's Buffalo. I mean, what good has come out of Buffalo? :)

i don't hate the south. i just think the rate of hockey franchise migration to the south has been amusing. it has nothing to do with the temperature. if that were the case, the concept of playing hockey in june would certainly be a bigger gripe.

and they baseball during the summer. it's primarily a sport played outdoors. montreal has summers. and it doesn't matter anymore anyway.

Maybe not the Ducks (I hear there were some empty seats at their playoff games too), but The San Jose is a real success story. I think they have a reg. season sellout streak that spans a couple of seasons.

Continuing to go off topic...

Montreal has a similar climate to Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis/St. Paul. Just because there's a border doesn't mean the temperature automatically drops into arctic levels.

Veering back on topic...

I like all 3 teams left in the NHL playoffs. They're all teams built on speed and skill - the way hockey should be played. I really don't mind which team wins - but for some inexplicable reason I'm leaning slightly towards Buffalo.

In other words: anybody but Calgary or T.O.

I don't watch hockey, but I voted for Carolina. Hockey in North Carolina is a lot like Soccer in the US. It's slowly catching on and steadily becoming more popular, but its still far below the radar. Obviously winning the Cup (or even just going to the Stanley Cup finals like a few years ago) will help out hockey's cause here.

I've been an Oilers fan now for about a decade. They have been the team I've followed most closely, and have sought out fanboards, etc of. Probably the only other team besides the Orioles or Ravens I do so with. The fact that they are this scrappy bunch, finally making it happen is simply awesome to me.
