...but I'm hoping to see it tonight.

Excited.

Mmmmm. Wolverine.

My wife loves Hugh. But apparently she also has an "unholy woman crush" on Famke, as well. Janssen will be 41 this fall. Certainly doesn't look it.

SPOILERS AHEAD

What I want to know is why a movie that's supposedly about "outsiders/diversity/whatever you want to call it" features a scene where a black girl goes and fights another black girl as if it's like "I'm so gonna get you bitch". Pretty sad. And was it just me, or were all of Magneto's main new recruits brown?

The kicker for me was that the whole thing of the government's conflict with the mutants seemed to only get resolved by the x-men "policing" their own people.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but they really seemed to let the social/political metaphors run into the ground in a weird way.

Things I liked
Madrox was pretty good even though his part was kind of small. I liked that he was kind of goofy too.

Iceman Vs. Pyro

Things I didn't like, mostly comic nerd stuff
Ok what the fuck is up with listing a bunch of characters in the end credits that had nothing at all to do? Psylocke, Jubiliee, Artie, Siryn, Flea, Omega Red? Also it would've been better if Marrow was a woman.

Yeah, Maddrox was great. I liked how he seemed kind of morally indifferent. No too far off from his comic character.

I liked how Iceman finally turned into "Iceman", but it looked a little wierd. I can see why they didn't do that before.

I have no idea where most of those characters in the credits were, but I think they sort of hybridized Omega Red and Marrow. Didn't really bother me as I can't really say that I ever cared much about either of those characters.

Callisto's latina. I thought the same thing about the X-Men solving things by siding with the army and killing a bunch of the Brotherhood though. How much worse would it have been if the kid just died?

Shiv, "I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch" was the WORST line in the whole movie. And I thought the fight between pyro and iceman was tres weak. How many movies have to show people with opposite powers shooting different-colored beams at each other until one beam overcomes the other?

Oops. Her accent sounded so West Indian. Guess her being from the Dominican explains it.

Yeah, I just didn't get how they would suddenly start killing and "curing" fellow mutants. Don't get why/how the gov suddenly decided not to be against them---apart from the idea that "Oh, they will police themselves" or some such thing. Kinda weird.

I agree that it wasn't the best, but it is a movie version of a comic book. I guess my standards aren't that high. I didn't think it was that much below the orginal two. And, if you thought those two weren't that great, why would you expect anything different from the third?

As a side note, something positive about this movie: I thought the scene with the Golden Gate bridge getting moved was one of the best graphic moments in a movie in recent times. I thought it was really cool.

Anyone else notice the irony of the black-clad protesters protesting "The Cure"?

It's funny cos they got it from the Internerd.

The worst line in the movie is when Xavier's talking about Jean Grey and he's all "She's...so...STRONG". There's another laughable line when he's with Wolverine and trying to put the mental blocks back into Jean's head but I forgot what he actually said.

I thought the Iceman/Pyro fight was cool mostly because Iceman actually turned into Iceman and not Snowhands Man. And how many other movies have you seen that do just what you said?

Finally saw the movie.

Romijn has an awesome body. If I were one of the eight years old in the front row of the theater my wife were at I'd be thanking Jesus that mom was next door watching The Break Up.

Eric Dane only had two lines.

Juggernaut could have been much better.

Opening scene where Stewart and McKellan were twenty years younger was well done considering everyone knows what Picard looked like 20 years ago. (My wife's statement: a hell of a handsome man for a bald old fart)

To be fair to the ladies and the gaydies, Wolverine's pants should also have ripped off with his vest when he went up against Jean. Unless that was some special blend of anti-Phoenix leather.

Most of the grief scenes seemed sterile, though Jackman did well with them. Felt like some of the plot and character interactions must have gotten excised in the middle in order to speed up the movie.

Fun movie, but again it felt like some character development scenes must have hit the cutting room floor.

Oh, yeah and my wife's still got a woman crush on Famke.

Last to the party, I finally saw this today.

Thoughts:

Everytime I saw Leech I thought, "Hey, it's Billy Corgan'.

Kelsey Grammer was good. Didn't think he'd be at all.

That cursing mentioned previously so did not fit in this.

Mystique's boobs may have been the best role in the whole movie.

Overall, the movie was entertaining. Good, but not great. Definitely not epic, which it could have been.
