no, i do not.

a few years ago, i found an unused ticket as a bookmark in a book i hadn't read in many years. the show was in the mid-90s and i couldn't remember if i forgot to go or if i couldn't get there (because i didn't have a car or couldn't use my parents'). luckily, i've seen the band twice anyway.

edit: oh, wait, you're talking about possessing poor memory skills, not remembering horrible memories from the past.

How about the day I was told that I had to have brain surgery?
Or the moment that I told my family the same?

Was offered a free ticket to see My Bloody Valentine open for Dinosaur Jr. at a small club in Charlottesville many years ago. Was a huge Dino Jr. fan (wasn't familiar with MBV at the time), but my laze arse didn't feel like making the 45 minute jaunt.

I'd kill to have the opportunity to make that choice again.

i can have a horrible memory. i often forget where I am parked - once had to leave my car overnight and come look for it in the morning (possible that drinking had something to do with it)

but i never forgot to go to a concert

If that the mostest horribler memory that sticks out in your mind, I'm happy you've had such a pleasant life.

Cuz, jeebuz, some bad things happen to people sometimes.

Leo Kottke. Thought the show was on a Saturday night. Showed up to the Unitarian church and the only thing going on was an AA meeting.

Unfortunately the show was the night before.

We need to combine the two directions of this thread. Like...

I had tickets to see Radiohead, but I forgot to go because I was preoccupied that day by accidentally running over the neighbor's kid with the lawnmower. D'oh - I've got such a horrible memory. AND a horrible memory.

Couldn't it also be "I was heading to the Radiohead show when I realized, because I have such a horrible memory, that I forgot to pick up my girlfriend. While I was speeding to her place, I blindsided a limo which, coincidentally, was carrying all the members of Radiohead. I killed my favourite band. My horrible (short-term) memory begat this horrible (long-term) memory."

I think you're right - that's the ideal situation for this thread.

With the exception, of course, of Dalen's far more interesting questions about the cover art on albums by atrociously bad thrash metal bands.
