The Coup are as good a hip-hop band as there is right now. Yeah, The Roots are a full band and ?uestlove is the shit. But they're like a tight-assed jazz band compared to what Boots, Silk-E and the three-piece backing group did Sunday in Lansing; just a big funky rap party about killing CEOs, wearing clean draws and making the damn revolution come quicker. All the while, Boots was rocking an afro bigger than a basketball and a burghundy three-quarter length, three piece pimp suit. Shit was tight.

Go see them. Go buy their records. Free your mind and your ass will set some shit on fire.

Downloaded their single "my favorite mutiny" (feat. Black Thought) off iTunes on a whim a while ago and I continue to rock it to this day. I need to get an album so I can have a little more post-1998 rap to listen to.
