And if they changed 'religious beliefs' to 'gay-ness' and suggested that you keep it where it belongs (i.e. in the closet at home), how would you react? Many millions of people feel as strongly about their religious beliefs as you do about your sexuality, and your perception of what they might do if you wanted to hold a gay/lesbian support group in that same room at that same time doesn't necessarily fly.

You sound like you resent this and feel uncomfortable that people are essentially worshipping a faith that doesn't agree with your lifestyle, and doing it right in front of you (gasp!). Religion is something that governs many people's entire lives, and for you to ask them to only practice it at specific times is really akin to them asking you to only be gay when they arent around (and I dont mean act gay, I mean be gay).

I also understand that there are plenty of superficial, hypocritical 'Christians' who will spend this hour at their job in bible study and then devote exactly zero minutes to their faith the rest of the week. But you have to take the good with the not-so-good in our society. No reason why they shouldn't get to have these meetings (I assume they are on lunch break).

Chris, Im totally on board with how you live your life, and I am not religious in the least, but I also have tons of respect for people that are deeply religious. Taken at face value, this situation you describe doesn't sound like a problem. Of course, if these people were total douchebags during the remainder of the work day, it would stick in my craw as well. Tough situation.

But it could be bad in a work environment if a supervisor was attending such a meeting, and playing favorites with employees based on attendance. It just seems rife with potential trouble to hold personal meetings such as this in a workplace.
