Good stuff. Catfish Haven are from Chicago and on Secretly Canadian. Live they come off as noisy/funky Southern soulful blues without the guitar solos. Interesting mix and great live sound.

Pink Mountaintops were loud, psych-y, droney, very Velvets and Jesus & Mary Chain (the droney-propulsive drumming) influenced. I dug it.

Recommened if they come through your village.

SHIT. I guess I should've gone to see the show here in Asheville on Saturday. I expected that Pink Mountaintops would be boring and quiet. I guess I was really wrong.

I wish every $8 show I attend was this decent. Caught them last Tuesday here in MPLS (also w/ We Are Wolves) and was treated to a rollicking good time despite a poor turnout - might've been 30-40 folks in attendance. CH blazed through a relatively short set, but their energy was poppin' and their instruments ultra-crisp in what's usually a beatdown sound in tiny 7th St. Entry. Honkin' good bluesy riffs. Stephen-what's-his-face of PMs seems much more comfortable as a performer since I saw him w/ Black Mountain last year. Was still a bit punch-drunk from Boris a few days earlier, so I wandered towards the back during PMs to save myself from the onslaught of noise. I like the new record well enough, and while the material translates well live, my only complaint would be that there was very little nuance in the live performance. Some wankery and electronic bleeps/blips here & there, but nothing too 'experimental'. Still, two solid performances & a Tuesday night well spent. Although we caught only 15 minutes of We Are Wolves, they seemed to be a snoozer.

I want Oneida.

That's the show I referenced. I was in town for a long weekend. Stayed on Beaucatcher Mountain. It was crunchy. The guy from Harvest Records that put on the show was incredibly nice. I bought the tickets, Boards of Canada EP, the new Grandaddy and that Tropicalia CD from the store.

They were very far from boring and quiet. People were actually dancing to the grooove. It was good to see that since I'm used to jaded-ass Nashville.

heh...new relationship stuff beats out most other activities....well, except for there singers whic i brought her too, so she could see my hetero crush on stage...

They were real good.....played only 90 minutes instead of the 2hr 15 minute, the venue said they would be doing.....the band wass tight....they didnt close with 'faded' like i have grown accustom too....and, this is kind of rude to say, but with Dulli not drinking during shows anymore, he is kind of subdued...not as much stage chatter...but his voice sounds great...

theyre coming back in the fall, and i will see at least 3 shows, no matter how far i have to travel.
