I'm finishing up an essay on the Dodgers leaving Brooklyn y'see
ratner pulled a lot of strings and made lots of promises in an effort to bring the nets [yes, the nj nets, i know, i know] to brooklyn. the plan is to build the arena over the current atlantic ave railyards, but additionally they are going to be levelling quite a few buildings in the prospect hts neighborhood. the plan was backed by a lot of people, except, of course, all of the residents - who had literally spent the last 10 years bringing that neighborhood back to life. so many people had just bought their bldgs when this plan was going through, so you can imagine what happened when the words 'eminent domain' got thrown around.
