They Might Be Giants is above Nick Cave, and those young tikes Oberst and White are strides and strides above him and Patti Smith. C'mon!

And where the hell is Rufus Wainwright????

I have a serious problem with #2

Shouldn't he not be counted as living considering he looks like a corpse?

EDIT: Dolly Parton #55? Come on. U2 is ranked higher? I shit on this list.

I love it how they just chuck Outkast on there at the end to make it more appealing to the modern black man.

Yeah, I'm sure that was their intent with that one. Because if a black person is reading a list and then finds a single black group placed at the very end of the list, all will be well in the world.

If Dylan weren't at #1, I wouldn't know whether the list was supposed to be in order or not.

If Rolling Stone or Spin put this list out, I'd probably defend it as being not that bad considering the source. Isn't Paste generally a decent mag though? Strike me unimpressed. For every Webb, Haggard, Spooner/Oldham and Kristofferson that I'm impressed to see make the list, I get annoyed to see them below Beck, Tom Petty, and Elton John/Bernie Taupin. its pretty awful actually.

I would have expected much better from Paste. Besides the horrid rankings their were quite a few obvious omissions and some that could easily be replaced.

Paste is a decent mag, but I have no qualms about letting my subscription expire.

I do have qualms about U2 being that high, though.

I loved seeing Griffin get some props, but to see who she's directly in front of is almost insulting.

I guess the title PASTE 100 SONGWRITERS IN NO SPECIFIC ORDER just didn't have that extra zing.
