I don't know why continually get into these stupid arguments. Like it matters. Laura's opinoins aren't exactly gonna influence the Mississippi Legislature. There's alot things that can be done to bring Mississippi up but having more abortion clinics probably doesn't matter much and I'll leave it at that.

Well, I have a Masters degree in Public Administration and work with these issues and see it first hand almost daily. If I were a poor girl looking for help in Louisiana, I would come to me. But I bet you could direct them to some fine art galleries to spruce up the government housing. Maybe just maybe things aren't exactly what Liberal World Journal reports and you can't project you're northeastern values everywhere.

you got me there.

i have no master's degree, was a high school dropout and went to a hippie art school with open admissions so yes, you do know much, much more than i do. the great thing is i'll never get a master's so you will always be smarter than me.

but what i like about you is that you really know me. it's amazing that here, in this world of fleeting quips and snarky comments that is obner, you've been able to hone into the real laura.

oh, if only you were a woman.

sorry. I should abstain from responding if I am not gonna add anything. I couldn't resist.

Oh... but even then if you didn't abstain, were careful, but had an accident, were poor, and already had 6 kids before the age of 24

yes. And I am sure that is the exact demographic and social situation for each of the what? 44,000,000 abortions since the late 60's.

That's not what I'm trying to say at all and I apologize if that's what came across. Laura you're obviously an intelligent woman with skills and talents I know I don't possess. All I'm trying to say is that maybe it's impossible for you to grasp the situation because you don't really experience it. Like I 've said many times, I don't pretend to know the REAL anybody here. It's the feakin' internet.

You're right. Those 44,000,000 were probably not out of desperation or for economic or age-related reasons... the truth is most women would really just prefer to have a horrible traumatic operation than use other forms of birth control. It's simply more convenient.

Then why do some men go on and on about what's right for women?

Shit people. I wasn't trying to say "I'm smart look at me". All I'm saying is maybe the people down here aren't stupid idiots who don't understand the issues and plight of the impoverished in the rural south and still have a different and valid opinon on the issue.

Sorry dude. No hard feelings. I certainly don't have a black and white view of it. Don't want to play evil ping-pong with you. Classic "can of worms" situation.

I hear you and understand your sentiment. I'm not saying what's right. I'm just saying Mississippi could have 1,000 abortion clinics and I don't think you would see much impact in pulling "mississippi out of the dregs."

I think people just need to stop generalizing and we'll be a lot better off on this board.

And if women there decide to not have abortions then so be it. The key thing is that they have decided.

True. I'm only a 3rd rate generalizer anyways. It's hard not generalizing within the parameters of an internet message board. That's why I should avoid these topics like the bird flu.

You're an idiot. I never said that. And if perhaps you weren't a straight white male, you'd be a bit more understanding to how people feel when they're discriminated against when they're really just trying to live their life.

I like you but really, go debate the politics of law with your other rich white classmates.

Yeah, I don't won't to confuse the issue but I guess it always boils down to that anyway. My whole point was it has very little to do with Mississippi's lack of success. But I got WAY off topic.

Oh god, I'm sorry Chris, I missed the part where you talked about your coworkers discriminating against you when they left their meeting.

Maybe I should go fuck some dude so my opinions matter.
