Traffic seems to have died down considerably recently. The fewer people are on, the less stuff available. The less stuff available, the fewer people are on. It happens.

I set this up to answer a demand for non-soulseek P2P sharing. Maybe there's no demand for it these days? Maybe DC++ truly is DC--? What are your thoughts here.

Maybe those with working accounts can get back on next week, so we can see what really is available. If people aren't interested, though, I'd rather not waste my bandwidth and resources on it.

I welcome any and all feedback.

I used to be on it all the time, and would love to be back on it, but my computer scrapes along like an old lady with one of those walkers as it is, so if I'm doing more than two things on the computer it pretty much freezes up. This is AFTER a clean resinstall of Windows in the fall. I've never seen it act like this. Piece of shit. I can't even do anything on it while ripping CDs, it's so slow. No idea what is wrong.

I would love to get back on, but I just moved and haven't gotten it figured out yet.

I've been a slacker on the 'wood tip.

Colin gave me good, working instructions on this. Or maybe they were in some thread. Having got a new router myself, I could use a refresher.

I miss Clever Cactus, but truly applaud C-UK for his yeoman efforts in creating and maintaining Colinswood.

I think it just appears that way because people have adopted shorter login names so the "Users browsing this forum" line rarely goes to the second line.

Me too... I enjoy Colinswood, but don't like that I'm blocked from others due to my firewall at work. If more people start getting on, then I might come back.

andyfest: I meant traffic on my hub, where there are only 3-4 users logged in as opposed to 10-15.

Thanks for the feedback so far, folks.

Not at all but I observed the shorter login names and wanted to comment about it so I chose this thread.

Sorry there Colinswooders - I've been in the middle of a move/cable company silliness the past few weeks. Of course, I'm pretty bad about staying online as is...but I really like this hub when I'm online!

I have a wireless router and once I forwarded a port for C-wood, I had no issues...are you familiar with port forwarding?

I know it means more work for you, but I think if you walked through basic instructions on getting active mode to work from behind a firewall/router, you might get more participation.

Agreed. Only problem is the number of firewalls and routers that I haven't been exposed to. I had potentially the easiest setup around (Windows XP Firewall, no router) and leading other people through stuff that I zero experience on gets a bit tricky.

I enjoyed Colinswood, but I've had considerable difficulties searching and downloading recently. I'll get back on and see if I can troubleshoot.

I never really felt like the DC++ interface/config was all that difficult..? I mean, I suck at things like this normally (bit torrent clients still leave me baffled, though I understand the conceptual side of it all too well). Isn't configuring the DC passive/active mode the same as doing that in Fetch or any other ftp client?
