so today is my ex-wife's bday. it's the first time in 8 years that i didnt have the chance to do something special for her. i have to admit it's a little weird, b/c every year i would try to outdo the previous year. it was never anything completely over the top, just me doing things in whatever way it seemed right to let her know i loved her.
sometimes they were small personal gestures, other times, they were big personal gestures. it never mattered how much or little i did, b/c whatever happened she knew a lot of thought went into it.
i guess it's probably just as weird for her as it is for me, probably moreso, actually.
still, i guess it sucks when yr former best friend celebrates the first one without you.

what's that quote about love being an oasis of horror [or something like that?]
yeh, that sounds about right.

is this a general all-purpose venting thread or are we supposed to stay on your topic?

Cause I lost my wallet yesterday or at least I think I did. Could have sworn I had it with me when I left the house in the morning but at lunch time, no wallet. When I got home, no wallet at home or in the car. Had my license, all my credit cards and atm card, and all other ids/cards. Totally sucks. No one's charged anything to me yet though, so I haven't given up hope that the cats have stashed it somewhere. Its almost more annoying that no one has though because I really don't expect it to ever show up and it would probably be easier to just know its gone and be able to start canceling and replacing cards sooner rather than later.

you can vent yr heart away. i'm not possessive or attention-starved or a anything like that. i just couldnt sit here and yell about this at work.
sorry to hear about yr wallet, tho, that really sucks. i lost my wallet a few years ago, and as luck would have it, happened to get carded for smokes about an hour or 2 earlier and didnt bother ot put my license back where it belonged. talk about a stroke of dumb luck.
hope it turns up...

My first wedding anniversary as a divorced guy was May 25th.
Our dating anniversary (would have been 10 years) will be November 11th.
The year anniversary of her cheating on me will be November 7th-9th . . . something like that.
The year anniversary of her leaving me will be November 25th.
The year anniversary of the divorce will be March 14th.

. . . and then there are all those other dates that will stick in the head, like her birthday. Maybe time will help me forget those dates, maybe not.

This exact thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I only went a couple of places, remembered having my wallet when I left home but didn't have it at the end of the day. I went to my parents' house and a friends house and never saw it again. Very strange. It's probably out there somewhere with $50 still in it.

I did this with my debit card, and retraced my steps, and the good folks at GARbucks had it waiting for me.

The End/Power button on my phone just quit working. I was trying to get a hold of my brothers cause another of my brothers is graduating tonight and we're figuring out rides. I get the answering machine, and can't hang up. So i take the battery out. Now i can't get it to turn back on.

And tonight is kind of an important night for family to be able to get in touch.

So... any hints?

I was going to take it apart, but i'm not sure how to do it without breaking it. There's one screw, it's tiny, and it's Y shaped. Who makes y shaped screws? So while I've got some tools on me, I don't have a Y shaped screwdriver.

It's a Sprint Sanyo clamshell dealymabobber.

All advice is welcome. Well, all useful advice.

I'd rather get divorced (again) than lose my wallet any day.

Losing a wallet is just a fucking horrible feeling. Inescapable pain, knowing your shit is OUT THERE without you. I'm never one of the coolest cats at the best of times, so when that happened I seriously wigged out. Fortunately my brother-in-law was visiting so he had a big bag of drugs with him. That was a band-aid. I eventually gave up looking and started cancelling stuff when I found the fucker in the car, tucked behind the seatbelt. Relief and utter annoyance set in promptly, in equal measures.

I got nothing to vent about, I'm having a great day.

Cue up the last track of that new Truckers album Jewelz.

My complaint for right now is that I have heartburn..and I know its my own fault for being lazy and eating like shit, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna change, just whine.

Time will help you forget, unless you really focus on them. I've been divorced 5 years (and am now remarried), and the past couple years I didn't remember the anniversary at all until a few days after, when something triggered a reminder. The first couple years were hard, but I would advise getting through the grief of the divorce, which is hard, and then do what you can to move on with your life. Certain things you'll never forget, but you can't let things like that rule your life and bring you down.
