ouch, the wife and I watched three discs and several hundred beers worth of season ii of Lost last night, my head hurts and the computer screen wiggles whenever my heart beats did I say ouch?

scrambled egg sandwich with turkey bacon--"Solent Green is People!!"-- two naproxins and a multivitamin so far...I may need a pina colada soon, though, that will do it most of the time

The only hangover remedy that works for me is more beer. Felt so rough all day, until now.

Bootleg disc of season 2? I only watched season 1 recently, so now I'm watching season 2 as it reruns on ABC (watched episode 2 this week, I'm way behind). Nobody spoil anything.

1st: Choke down a cup or two of coffee

2nd: Food (5 or 6 strips of bacon, two boiled eggs, and a piece of toast is a personal favorite)

3rd: Pills
4 asprin
1 multivitamin
1 B-12
2 of some sort of allergy medicine with pseudophedrine

wash down with equal parts water and gatorade (20 oz. or so of each is a good start)

4th: (optional)
Two double bloody mary's

Then, either take a nap or switch to beer and start thinking about a lunch that includes either wings or mexican food.

Yail Bloor IS a certified hangover curer...Listen to the man.

The only other suggestion I have is, if you can choke it down: crack an egg in a beer and guzzle it in one gulp. Either it works or it doesn't and you'll know it's gonna work if it doesn't start coming back up before its all down.

This is basically my method, I usually sleep in, drink a bunch of coffee to flush the remainder of the poison from my system. If I have a headache after that, I take two aspirin or ibuprofen and eat whatever leftovers I have and whatever is the easiest to cook. If my body is still messed up, I take a nice long nap. By 3pm, I'm usually ready for another round.

Yeah, I remember reading something in a Bukowski book about the beauty (because of how easy they are to cook) of boiled eggs as morning after food.

And the way I usually cook bacon (double sheet of aluminum foil on a baking sheet, lay the strips out and cook in a 350 oven until done) is equally easy.

If you can muster the 5 minutes of prep for those two, then you can go back to bed with a second cup of coffee while they cook.

Also, after eating, and generally wallowing in your own filth, go to the bathroom and crank the shower to as hot as you can possibly stand it. Grab between 1 and 3 beers, close the door to the room the shower is, and lay down in the tub. You may have to adjust where the spout of water is hitting you, but you are basically creating your own sauna. The beers will help keep your heart from sopping.

I had a lecture on this in Biochem and most of the things they said is hwat everyone knows anyway

Water (esp before you go to bed) - alcohol is a diuretic and most of the effects of a hangover are due to dehydration

Eggs - high in cysteine amino acids which are used to help metabolize that alcohol

Drinking again - Your body clears ethanol before methanol. So you drunk some shitty ass alcohol last night, your body's probably clearing meths right now which is much more unpleasant. If you have another drink, you'll switch back to clearing ethanol.

Oh and don't ever take acetominophen after you've been drinking

yep. no messy cleanup either. just wait until the grease cools and then throw away the foil. cooks the bacon very evenly, too.

you'll have to fight my fiance for half naked chef services. she would starve without me.

With hangovers, prevention is the best cure.
Most importantly: Stay hydrated.

If you don't pass out when you get home from the bar or when you get to that point where you just say "no.more.alcohol...tonight", the most important thing to consider is liver function. The longer you stay up, the longer your liver has to metabolize the alcohol.
Usually the headache is caused from dehydration, so while you are sitting there watching terrible late night TV, chug some water. The afformentioned vitamins (especially B Complex) in combination with the hydration and liver function will help stave off the hangover.

i think that it's more about blood sugar than dehydration. drinking water helps, but you also need something like pasta in a light tomato sauce too.
