He's on pace to pass Hank Aaron right about when James Tiberius Kirk decides to retire as Captain of the USS Enterprise to succeed Paul Giamatti XXXXXVII as Comissioner of Baseball, so it's really just a matter of time.

Hyperbolic overstatement of the millenium.

You see, Bart didn't have "Jr.," so I am theorizing that America's favorite non-PSH character actor will name a son after himself and that decision will be repeated over several dozen generations.

no, that is a fact. Whether those opinions are accurate is up for debate, but that they are even being tossed around says something

So you are telling me this:

Many people are saying that he has the best power of any player ever

And you dont feel that you are overstating at all what a few people really say about WMP? :D

lol, maybe it is better stated that 'a few say he has the best power ever'. Better?

Suffice to say, the kid has raw power that the Sox are looking to develop. From his early season performance, things are looking bright for his future

In the past two weeks, WMP has hit homers of 436 feet, 447, 448 and 463, plus a 404 footer that nearly killed a fan in the front row of the Monster seats...

that one was crazy.

oh and it's sweet how he does that little sideways turn into the bases when he's rounding them after a homer.

Whoa, that's awesome. Still doesn't change the fact that he has a career OBP of .314, slugging .489 and strikes out like every third at bat. But watch those babies fly!

I am trying to figure out if you are joking or not...are you seriously going by 'career statistics' for a 24 yr old hitter who was thrown into the big leagues before he was close to being ready? His statistics this year are .365/.550/.915. He played about a week of games hurt before he went on the DL, going 7 for 25, all singles, with 2 BB and 7 K and 1 GDP. Throw that out and he is now .370 / .597 / .967.

To put it into perspective, there are 3 RHH under 25 years old who have a higher OPS, D Wright, M Cabrera, and E Encarnacion.

Finally, had to chuckle at the 'strike out every third at bat' comment. Who cares? Is it better to ground out, fly out? An outs an out, and 0.370 is just fine for an OBP. Combine that 370 OBP with nearly 600 SLG, and you got yourself a helluva hitter.

Don't mind me, I'm on a bender and I was basically just messing around. He could be good, but for some reason I get the feeling he'll end up being a taller, fatter and (much) slower Corey Patterson.
